Chapter 5

Immediately, Travis came out of the kitchen with a plate of fruits in his hand.

"Travis! You can pack up and get out of here tomorrow" Linda said excitedly.

Travis froze and turned to Quinn in confusion.

"Stop joking, Mom", chirped Quinn helplessly.

"Handid? I'm serious here! " Linda stood up and glared at Travis with her hands on her waist. "It's been almost three years since you started loading free from us, bullshit. You should be thankful that I didn't even ask for a penny from you. You'll divorce Quinn tomorrow and get out of our house. Our food is not intended for dogs ".

Linda won't accept no.

"You know, Travis, being a bum isn't so bad, but you should at least have some self-awareness. To be honest, which part of you thinks you're worthy of Quinn? You're just a dog in a manger. Is it time for you to step back, or do you want Quinn to live the rest of her life in shame as everyone's joke? ".

With Linda's support, Adam begins to taunt Travis as well.

"So you called Quinn a manger?" Travis asked coldly.

Quinn looked unhappy.

Realizing he had messed up, Adam quickly replied, "Don't twist my words, Travis. Anyway, back off ".

"Oh? And what do I get from doing that? " Travis remained as calm as ever, but Quinn began to furrow her brows as she glared at him.

"Ha ha ha! I guess you're a smart guy, huh? Well, don't tell me I'm not generous. I'll give you 300 grand to leave Quinn. Take the money and get as far away from us as possible. I never want to see you again ".

Adam reached into his pocket and pulled out a check while looking at Travis arrogantly.

"Junk like you will never even get 300 thousand dollars in your lifetime. Stay in a small town with that money. It will be more than enough for you to live the rest of your life without worry. " Adam scribbled his check and threw it straight at Travis.

"So, this is what a 300-thousand-dollar check looks like? That's a lot of zeros ", Travis commented, taking the check.

"Yes, you trash. Look how surprised you are at just 300 grand! You're destined to be a useless bum for life ". Adam was disgusted to see Travis staring at the check like a hick.

Linda looks just as insulting. "Hmph! You don't even deserve that much ".

Her heart ached imagining her future son-in-law spending that much money on Travis.

Meanwhile, Travis turned to Quinn. "Is this what you want, Quinn?" he asked seriously.

Quinn panted and threw away his face. "I didn't say yes".

Then, the man curled his lips into a grin. "Don't look at me like that right now. I'm able to announce every digit you have in one of your bank accounts for as long as I want. "

Adam gulped. He was curious how Travis knew he was checking out the kiting, but there was no way he could ask him now. "Are you crazy?"

"Okay, Adam", Quinn chimed in. "It's late, so you should go back. I'm tired too ".

Adam had not finished talking, but Quinn had already walked away, so he could only look at Linda with a clear look. "Don't worry, Adam", Linda's response was convincing. "Quinn might still be upset about today. No hurry. You'll have plenty of opportunities now that you're back ".

Adam nodded after thinking long. "You're right, Linda. I was in too much of a hurry. All right, I'll go now. Remember to take beauty pills on time, and let me know if you've already spent them. I'll send you more ".

"Don't worry about that! You just gave me a year's worth of supplies! But these pills are really something. I can see how amazing my skin is now every time I stand in front of a mirror. " Linda chuckles.

"That's because you're a natural beauty, Linda. This pill only serves as a support ".

"Oh, my. You're a sweet talker, Adam! Ha ha ha ha! "

"I'm just stating the truth, Linda. You also need to rest. I'll go now ". Adam turned to leave, but not before glaring at Travis.

Right after Adam left, Linda immediately began to order Travis again. "What are you standing there for? Take these beauty pills to the warehouse. You better be more self-aware! Quinn's just trying to protect your ego today, but sooner or later she'll divorce you ".

Instead of answering, Travis skeptically opened one of the gift boxes and checked the contents.

"What do you see? Hmph! You must be ashamed of yourself. That alone costs a thousand dollars! "

"Mom, how long have you been eating this?" Travis turned around and asked. The moment he opened the box, an unusual fragrance smelled into his nostrils.

"Why do you ask so much? Get rid of it, and don't you dare ruin it! You won't be able to afford it ". Linda took the box from Travis and put it back in the bag.

"Lho, ma'am, when I said I might have eaten something toxic, it could have been this. I just realized that this pill contains BD313. It is addictive and very dangerous if you consume it in the long run. You can't stand it anymore ".

Linda looked at Travis before commenting in disdain, "Travis, if you're trying to ruin Adam's reputation, at least you can find a better way to do it! I'm even more disgusted with you now ".

"I'm not saying this has anything to do with Adam. He may not even know about this, but no human being should ever use BD313. It could lead to cancer and death, "Travis insisted.

By rolling her eyeballs, Linda kept the beauty pill herself.
