CHAPTER 3: IRSYAD!?

A week went by and Halwah never imagined that her new life would go this smoothly without a hitch.

After performing the congregational morning prayers, Kalan went straight to the bathroom without saying anything. The young man had not let out a sound since last night from which Halwah could remember. Except, surah reading when praying just now.

While Kalan in the bathroom, Halwah chose to clean the mattress and exit the room to open the door. The two slept in the same room, but agreed to sleep in separate beds. Well, even though the sofa occupied by Kalan sleeps can not be called a bed. However, the sofa is comfortable, Halwah once tried to lie there.

"Morris?"

Halwah flinched, she turned around and found Kalan now more presentable in a light blue shirt suit and white cloth pants. The young man wore a white peci on his head and walked towards Halwah who had just finished opening the large window of the living room.

"Sunday, maids don't usually come to clean the house. But they cleaned up yesterday. So, you don't have to clean anymore and just cook for lunch and dinner." Kalan explained, he reached into his wallet and pulled out a few pieces of money from inside.

"This is my pocket money this month, use it for your needs. You can buy anything you want with it,"

By Allah, Halwah dares to say Kalan's monthly allowance may be equal to a teacher's monthly salary.

"I go first, there's a lecture at the Masjid. My bike's on, Assalamu'alaikum.."

"Wa'alaikumsalam warahmatullah, Fii a-amanillah.."

Kalan smiled faintly, it made Halwah stunned in her place. Jeez, Halwah felt Kalan's good looks multiply as the young man smiled.

---

At 11 o'clock, Halwah completed her first job as a wife. He cooks while imagining Kalan's reaction when eating his work.

As he was busy smiling and blushing, the main door opened and a brown-haired man appeared in a hasty movement running towards the central bathroom.

"WHEN I BORROW YOUR BATHROOM!"

Halwah blinked twice, she stared at the closed bathroom door with a puzzled look. That was it, who?

Three minutes, Halwah peeked out from behind the kitchen wall of the man who had entered the house.

The young man paced back and forth while shouting the name Kalan, ill-fated when Halwah peeked he accidentally dropped the soup spoon he held as a defense weapon if something happened.

Then, the young man immediately saw her and shouted hysterically; "ASTAGHFIRULLAH!!! YOHKUU!!"

"MA-MANA!?"

Both of them were silent, the brown-spirited young man approached before putting up the stance and staring at Halwah full of probing.

"Who are you!?"

"Hey-halwah!" halwah replied fearfully, she took a few steps back as the young man walked toward her slowly.

"What are you doing at my best friend's house? Why are you here with a soup spoon?! You stole!?"

Halwah shook her head noisily, she had walked backwards from now on. Even the girl did not know that this young man cornered her to the main doorway, where there was Kalan who stood with a shocked glare.

"Irshad!?"

"Gee!"

---

"Ja-so you're married!?"

Irsyad Anggara, an up-and-coming film actor. Being Kalan's childhood best friend up until now, the two entered the same class, but because Irsyad had a lot of filming schedules, the young man entered school less than Kalan could remember. So, no wonder when Irsyad does not recognize Halwah who incidentally has the smartest student in school.

"Hm, as you can see." Kalan replied, he sipped warm tea made by Halwah after the three of them performed sublime prayers after successfully calming Irsyad who continued to accuse Halwah of being a thief.

"You didn't tell me? Since when did you get married!?"

"A week ago. I called but, your manager said you were filming at sea."

Irsyad patted the eel, a rough sigh coming out of his lip before he looked at Kalan in frustration.

"You're keeping it a secret intentionally? What is the silly parenting matchmaking that allows you to get married? How could I not be told?!"

Kalan held a laugh, while Halwah only blinks innocently because he has not been introduced by the figure of a young man named Irsyad who now looks at him sharply.

"Your name is Halwah?"

"Eh! I-yes!" Halwah improved her sitting position, she gave more distance between her sitting position with Kalan.

For a moment, Irsyad stared silently at Halwah. From her appearance, she was an innocent and sweet girl figure. But who knows the heart of man?

"You explain how you two got married!"

"Ehh? Me? Th-but.."

"Let's just be clear, she won't stop acting like a female gorilla if you don't give her what she wants." Kalan cursed, he opened a jar of chocolate cake and devoured it casually then turned on the TV with a small volume.

Halwah looked at him for a moment, the girl fell silent then took a deep breath.

"A-anu. Our grandfather made a covenant.."

"Just relax, Halwah." said Kalan, he glanced at Irsyad who seemed to insist on knowing the reason why they could be stuck young marriage.

With little force, Kalan turned off his TV and told Halwah to go back instead of dealing with Irsyad who was in a female style of snacking mode.

"Why did you let him go!? My guess is right, isn't it? You are married because, Halwah's parents want the treasure of your family!"

Halwah's steps stopped, she stayed behind the wall between the middle room and the kitchen.

"Yes, right? All the girls who approach you always have the same hidden intentions and Halwah is one of them, right?"

For some reason, the words of the young man named Irsyad made Halwah's heart throb pain.
