"Young master." The man leaned towards them.
"Young master, this man is the head cook at the Bardev residence." Lika introduces.
The man adapted to the situation and again bowed introducing himself. "My name is Neal."
Valias is used to the style of speech and how to call people. "naleal. Sorry we disturbed you. Have you been cooking for the Bardev family all this time?"
"Yes, young master. With two other cooks. But they only come at dinner time."
"Oh.." Valias gets new information. "naleal. Can I borrow your kitchen for a second?"
Neal looked silent. Valias observed the man who was taller than him and remembered Kei. Neal brushed her hair back and had sharp eyes. The sleeves he rolled up also showed the muscles he had.
"Sure, young master. I'm just gonna sharpen these knives. Young master can do as you please. I'll take care of the rest."
Valias could see a basket on the kitchen table filled with knives. Valias has never seen that many knives. He's gonna hone everything?
"okay." Feeling that he had received approval from the person who was the owner of the kitchen, Valias began to walk around the kitchen still with Dina holding her hand.
"Ah." Valias saw how various foodstuffs arranged the back of the kitchen. Various vegetables, fruits, and animal food ingredients are stored so neatly in a wooden box that gives off a cold sensation. Valias didn't think there was a refrigerator that used electricity here so he assumed that the food storage used magic.
But..
Too differently.
Meat and fish have no difference from what Valias used to see in Indonesia.
But vegetables..
Valias intends to make foods such as kale stir-fry, tempeh, and other Indonesian foods.
But I forgot that this story is European.
The ingredients are also different from the usual Valias use. Valias felt like laughing outside but crying inside.
"What will you do?"
Valias silently smiled wryly.
Made what? I lost the materials I needed.
Valias laughed grimacingly in the heart.
But it doesn't matter.
Valias saw the chicken was clean. He also saw spices that caught his attention.
Valias took his steps to the chicken storage. His hand moved to grab the animal food and Dina responsibly let go of his grasp. Seeing Valias focus his full attention on the materials he seemed to be about to use. He brought some groceries to the table next to Neal. Neal quietly glanced at what the red-haired teenager was doing. Dina who had moved to the seat also watched her eldest brother with Danial.
The four people in the kitchen were both paying their attention to the frail man who was moving his hands so painstakingly grinding the herbs. Apply the seasoning mixture on the chicken and put the chicken in the grill. Even before Neal and Lika had time to move, their young master had already started a fire in the toaster wood. Working as if he had been used to doing those things his whole life.
Dina has a cheerful face while Danial has slightly widened eyes. Wondering if her sister had really cooked in that kitchen before.
His movements, showing as if he already knew what to do. Without the need for any help from the kitchen.
Valias on the other hand used a flat iron which he found leaning against the wall to fix the piles of incendiary wood. Have full focus and enthusiasm on what he does.
20 Minutes passed and the fragrant roasted chicken filled the kitchen. Dina brekedut's nose sniffed the fragrance that spit out her curiosity. He clenched his hands together impatiently when he saw Valias wearing gloves and picking up the cooked chicken pan from the cooking table. Take her to the front of Danial and Dina who are sitting around the table.
A smile on Valias's face. Satisfaction filled him. He hasn't cooked in a long time. It was soothing when he finally returned to be able to do what he usually does.
"Can I try it??" Dina asked impatiently.
Valias' eyebrows move up. Distracted from her nostalgia of cooking in the kitchen of her residence by Dina's voice.
"Hm. Can."
Valias was just about to turn around to pick up the knife but Neal had already appeared next to him. Stretching out both his hands cut the chicken on the table without any instruction from anyone.
Dina directly took one of the chicken parts. He brought his mouth towards the chicken in his hand and bit him. He felt a hot sensation on his hands and lips.
"Aah!" Dina again put the piece of chicken that she had taken on the baking sheet. Waving her hands warm.
"Young lady!" Lika called out in panic.
"Dina." Danial frowned riled.
"It's okay." Everyone's attention was turned to Valias' hand on Dina's hand. Wrap Dina's fingers in a wet cloth.
"Are you okay?" Ask. Both of Dina's cheeks flushed in embarrassment but she immediately flanged.
"It's okay. Thank you brother."
"What are you doing. It is not the right eating ethic. You didn't even wash your hands." Tegur Danial's.
"You're so curious?" Valias chuckles. Patting softly Dina's hand wrapped in cloth.
"Yes.." Dina answered timidly.
"We can try it together." Valias smiles. He was also curious about the results of his first cooking in this world. Right after that Neal had placed three plates with forks and knives on the table.
"Please, young master."
"Yes. Thanks though. You sit down." Valias patted Dina on the shoulder. Told her to sit back after her beavers woke up when she first overheated.
"En." Dina answered slowly. With a bent face sitting himself.
After seeing Dina sitting comfortably, Valias sat down. He extended both his hands. Using his fork and knife to put the pieces of food on Dina and Danial's plate.
"? was?Brother don't have to bother." Danial frowned faintly.
Valias raised both eyebrows. Confusion before chuckling.
"What's the hassle of getting food for your sister?"
Valias felt a little strange saying that but he subconsciously had quite a curiosity in what it was like to have one or two brothers. He was an only child and used to do everything himself without anyone accompanying him.
Seeing now that there were two children much younger than him accompanying him breakfast made his heart warm up a little. This was something he had never felt before.
"Thank you brother." Dina smiled widely again. Grabbing the fork as if he had never felt pain in the first place.
"Thank you." Danial is slowly following. Although she still had a little discomfort in her heart getting service from her brother.
Valias put on a small smile. "Eat."
He was starting to feel hungry. Danial and Dina may have eaten something but Valias wants to make sure they don't skip breakfast like that.
Dina stuffed the chicken slices into her mouth and had sparkling eyes.
"Don't kid!" yells.
Danial is tasting. Nod in agreement.
"I never thought you could cook."
Valias simply sliced the chicken pieces on his plate without responding.
Valias was making a new slice when two hands were stretched out toward his plate and put a new piece from the baking sheet.
"Ah, thank you." Valias answered awkwardly.
Dina in her place did not want to lose and took a new cut. He was about to put it on Valias' plate but it was too far away and his short hand was unable to reach his brother's plate.
Dina was just about to open her mouth when suddenly a fork pierced the meat in Dina's fork and carried the meat away to another plate.
Danial immediately sliced the meat and put it in his mouth.
"Sister! It's not for you!" Calls Dina protest.
"I've given more meat to brother. If he eats from you too he'll be full. It's not good to have a full stomach in the morning."
"It's not fair!"
Valias who witnessed the commotion could only be speechless holding his cutlery. Before a small smile.
"Thank you for your good intentions Dina. I'll eat your food sometime."
"really?" Valias nodded.
Dina smiled broadly. "Snake promise!"
"Don't bother your brother for your satisfaction." Danial is talking.
Dina widened her eyes. "I'm not a hassle!"
Valias was again rendered speechless. Looks like Danial also has his own side. Valias didn't expect this.
Valias wants to change the subject. "Is there anything that keeps you busy?"
Dina was about to answer but Danial answered faster.
"Yes." Yeah." Danial rubbed his mouth with his handkerchief. "There are bandits in the Bardev area."
Valias' eyebrows move up. "Bandits?"
"Yes!" Dina hurriedly replied. Not wanting to be preceded again. "This is the second case this month, said Mallory's teacher." Dina lowered her shoulders sadly. "Are they bad people?"
"They're bothering people. Of course they're evil." Danial answered flatly. Valias hears Danial's response and knows that the topic is not something that can be discussed in front of Dina.
Maybe it has something to do with someone's injury. Or worse.
The word bandit sounded a bit foreign to Valias but he knew clearly what it was.
Robbers. And armed.
In a fantasy book, the word bandit means bad.
Valias thought about finding out about it.
Bandits..
Valias thought of something. But he shook his head and immediately changed the topic again. Worrying about Dina's curiosity is rising.
"Dina, is there anything you want to do?"
"Me?"
"Yes." Yeah." Valias nodded. Slicing food and putting it in your mouth.
Valias thought, since today none of them had anything to do, Valias could use that time to keep his promise to Dina.
"Are you going to town?" ask Valias.
Dina receiving the question instantly had sparkling eyes.
"Wouldn't you?"
Valias nodded.
Something I seem to have to visit.
"So, will you come out? After just coming back?" Danial asked not to understand. Then came the curiosity about what her brother did yesterday. Especially her brother went with people she didn't recognize.
My brother also came home in royal clothes.
Dina may not realize it but Danial knows. Her brother was wearing a different outfit from yesterday and there was a Nardeen family insignia on his chest. On the left, where the human heart is. Unlike the Bardev family emblem which is placed on the right shoulder of the wearer.
The condition of his older brother wearing the Nardeen family crest instead of Bardev made Danial uncomfortable.
"Yes.." Valias responds to origin. He thinks he's not tired. One more trip couldn't be a problem.
"'Just back'? Is my brother out of nowhere?" Tanya Dina was confused. His busyness last day made him unable to meet Valias. And she thought her brother was at home and doing his own thing.
"Yes." Yeah."
Seeing Dina made Valias remember the previous child. Fees. Valias wonders if Dina and Fee can be good friends. They look the same age. With a personality that looks similar.
It made Valias feel a little uncomfortable.
Fee and the other kids. Right, they're having an unfair life.
"Want to?" Valias asked again.
"You!" Dina answered enthusiastically.
Danial saw the interaction between his two brothers put on a flat face.
Both of his lips were tightly shut by the discomfort in his heart.
Valias tidied his fork and knife on the plate. "I'll change my clothes first."
He got up from his seat. Dina nodded.
"Me too!"
Dina planned to bring some things with her.
Danial frowned and slowly spoke. "Sister."
Valias heard the call turn his face. Saw Danial who seemed to want to say something but was reluctant. One hand clenched.
Danial suddenly stood up.
"I want to come too."
Danial somehow felt nervous but immediately felt relieved when he saw Valias put on a smile and nodded.
"Yes. We'll go together."
Pleasure enveloped Danial's heart. He approached Valias and the two of them left the kitchen. Then Dina who had come out first with Lika.
Neal who was still in the kitchen and continued her knife sharpening activity rolled the corner of her eyes towards the door.
Those bandits are still here?
