Gorontalo
Gorontalo is one of the provinces in Indonesia which was born on December 5, 2000 and has the provincial capital of the same name, Gorontalo City. The province was formed under Law Number 38 Year 2000, dated December 22 and became the 32nd province in Indonesia. Similarly, the capital city, Gorontalo Province is famous for the nickname "Serambi Madinah". In the history of Indonesia, the only Indonesian President who comes from the Gorontalo Tribe is the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. DR. Ing. B.Y.J. Habibie, from his father's lineage who has the Habibie clan, namely Alwi Abdul Jalil Habibie.
Gorontalo Province is located on the Gorontalo Peninsula on Sulawesi Island, precisely in the western part of North Sulawesi Province. The area of the province is 12,435.00 km² with a population of 1,166,142 inhabitants (2018), with a population growth rate of 0.91%.
On the other hand, the Gorontalo community also has a culture of "Moleleyangi" or in Indonesian called "Merantau", where the spread of ethnic Gorontalo is most widely spread in North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, and East Kalimantan. It is suspected that the spread of the Gorontaloan Diaspora has reached 5 times the total population now spread throughout the world.
According to the record "Kayat Gorontalo", the area that has been known as the "Cenape of Gorontalo" that exists today comes from an island. Over time, the sea water around the island also receded and in the end three mountains emerged, one of which is Mount Tilongkabila. As for a valley to the south of Mount Tilongkabila is recorded in history as a region called "Hulontalangi", which later became known as the area "Hulontalo" or Gorontalo, which is also the forerunner of Gorontalo city area.
