DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

Computer is an electronic device consisting of hardware and software that can work according to user commands. The development of the world of software and hardware is very rapid with the competition between computer companies.

Computers that used to have large hardware and take up a lot of space are now made as simple as possible. However, the software and applications are constantly updated to be able to work with the best features in it.

Well for more details about computer devices, I will discuss about hardware and software starting from the understanding, differences and examples. So you will understand what components make a computer usable and help human work.

Understanding Hardware and Software

Hardware, also called hardware, is equipment that can be physically seen, held, or moved. Hardware is one of the elements of a computer system that supports computerized processes.

Software or software is a term specific to data that is formatted, and stored digitally, including computer programs, documentation, and various information that can be read and written by a computer. In other words, a part of a computer system that is not in existence or can not be touched but can be run with the help of hardware.

Difference between Software and Hardware

By looking at the understanding of hardware and software above, it is very clear to see the difference. The most basic difference is that Software cannot be held while Hardware can be held. Software cannot run without hardware, nor can hardware function without software.

So the components between hardware and software cannot be separated because they need each other.

Hardware

Hardware is the physical equipment of a computer system consisting of 3 types, namely:

Incoming device (Input device) Input device serves to enter data, either in the form of text, photos, or images into the computer. Examples of input devices such as keyboards, mice, light-pulps, scanners, and so forth.

Outgoing devices (Output devices) output devices are used to hold and produce data issued, such as monitors and printers.

Data processor (Processor) Data processing tools are used to process data. The data processor includes a central processing unit (CPU/Central Processing Unit) as well as a microprocessor.

Here is an example of Hardware:

CPU (Central Processing Unit); is a tool that functions as a data processor. The CPU contains a series of circuits that store instructions for processing and storing data. These components are power supply, motherboard, ram, hard disk, processor and fan (fan).

Monitor; This is a tool that can display text or images of the data that is being processed in the CPU. It has now been developed with a type of LCD or LED monitor that is better than a tube monitor.

Keyboard (typeboard); is a tool to enter data and commands into the CPU consisting of a series of A-Z letters, numbers, and other function keys.

Mouse; Mouse is a tool to give commands in processing or editing data. The laptop component is called a touchpad, which works the same way as a mouse.

Printer (printer); is a tool that produces output data (output) in the form of prints, in the form of text or images/graphs.

Scanner (scan); Scanner is a tool to enter data in the form of images or graphics so that it can be processed and combined with text data forms.

Flash disk; as an external storage tool that can be used to store data both software and files.

Operating system; Operating system devices are the most important part of running a computer device. There are several types of operating systems including Windows, MAC, DOS, Linux, and so on. The widely used PC or laptop operating system is Windows that is easy to use from all walks of life and supports the best applications.

Word Processing; This software is used to type or create data such as making books, letters, papers, thesis, etc. Software that is quite famous is Microsoft Office which consists of microsoft word, exel, power point, etc.

Media player; this software serves to play media players such as videos or music.the software is a VLC media player, GOM media player, AIMPlayer, etc.

Graphic Design, this software is used for design needs such as making posters, logos, images, photo editing, etc. The most popular software is CorelDraw and Adobe Photoshop.

Internet Software; used to access the internet through a media browser such as Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc.

Anti Virus; used to protect computer devices from malware or viruses that can damage the system. Such as Avira, AVG, Avast, Kaspersky, Smadav, Malwarebyte, etc.
