Aokigahara forest in Japan is a place of suicide.
Aokigahara is a forest located in the Northwest of Mount Fuji, stretching from the town of Kawaguchiko to the village of Narizawa, Yamanashi Prefecture. Aokigahara is also called “sea forest tree” and “Mountain tree ocean Fuji”. So called because if the wind blows the trees there looks like the state of the waves in the sea. The age of this forest is estimated to be about 1200 years. This forest is known as a popular suicide spot in Japan.
The forest is reported to be the most popular suicide spot in all of Japan and ranked second in the world as a suicide destination after the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Suicide rates vary, but from those so far documented since 1988, at least 100 suicides occur each year there.

In 2003, the number of suicides rose to 100, in the year the government decided to close the information on the number of suicides, to reduce the popularity of Aokigahara as a suicide location.
Since 1970, a team of police, volunteers, and journalists has been working through the forest to search for bodies. However, the teamwork is less heavy than forest workers. They're the ones in charge of bringing the bodies from the forest to the forest guard post.
The popularity of Aokigahara forest is back after the release of the film by director Takimoto Tomoyuki. With the title Jyukai – The Sea of Trees Behind ( ⁇ ). The film tells the story of four people who decide to commit suicide in this forest.
There are 2 mysterious caves in the forest, it is said that it is the most mystical place in the forest, many reported that saw the appearance of supernatural creatures when approaching or entering the cave, which is the most mystical, this makes that Aokigahara forest is indeed as it is talked about.
