Spend the Night with You

Spend the Night with You
Past Pieces of Time

The two hitters nodded obediently to mother. They swiftly caught and locked my arm joints. It hurt and I couldn't move. Wrong a little, my joints can come off.

“OY off!” i'm mutinous.

“Kato! Help me!” I shouted hoping that Kato would help me. However, nothing happened.

I spread my eyes around. However, I did not find the figure of the girl anywhere. He probably ran away somewhere. In the end, even Kato would be self-centered. From the beginning I didn't believe it.

“Do not contact!” snapped one of them while dragging me easily.

I definitely won't be able to win against these two bouncers.  From posture to body weight I have lost. I got battered this morning, I don't want to be beaten anymore. I turned to Mom, hoping she would withdraw her orders.

“Mother! I'm a mother's son! What Mother could bear?” I shouted at the woman.

He's still looking the same since I last saw him five years ago. She still enjoys wearing a T-shirt wrapped in a furry jacket and jeans. The only thing that changed from him was his hairstyle which was now trimmed to his shoulder and the age line on his face.

Honey, my hopes are dashed. Mom ignored me and turned back home. My heart gripped sadly. I should have known that Mom was. From the beginning, his attitude never changed.

The two body guards took me to a rather dim and desolate place. An empty land located not far from the square. The only illumination here is just a dying street lamp.

“Bang Dwiki, this would like to directly brush us?” said one of them.

My heart is pounding with adrenaline. On the other hand, I was thinking of a strategy to escape. If I can't win in a fight, I still have another way. I will persuade them with money.

I know well bribing is not a good thing, but at least I can buy time. But before I could speak. One of the beaters called Dwiki said.

“No! We'll just leave here!” answer Dwiki.

“Kok so anyway, Bang? If the boss asks us how?”

“You just calm down Dirga. I am responsible. You go back there first!” dwiki command with high tone.

Dirga could only nod obediently. He looks submissive, probably because Dwiki is his senior.

“OK Bang. I go first.” Dirga rushed away.

Then, it was me and Dwiki. He then let me go and apologized for being rude. He was doing all that to trick my mom and the other bouncers.

Furthermore, he admitted to receiving secret orders from his superiors who were none other than my stepfather, as well as the real father of Nika & Niki. That means, Dwiki from the beginning already knew who I was.

“I have a message from Mr. Nazar to mas Nana,” he said as he reached into his pocket and handed him a black envelope.

The envelope contained a three-letter chain with a word: VIP Invitation.

“The message is inside. Then, I pamit.” He then left.

I opened the envelope and read the letter inside. Read from the first paragraph to the end. Fold back the message and slip it in your pants pocket. I breathed deeply and then shouted loudly.

That old jackass really knows how to fuck me. Her attitude was not as bad as my mother's, but I didn't like her at all. If this is the case, I don't want to have to come. In the letter, he threatened to scuttle the sale of my novel if I didn't show up at Nika and Niki's birthday party.

“You why scream?” kato said that out of nowhere.

I glanced at him cynically. How dare he show up after quietly leaving.

“Not your business. Where are you from? Didn't you run away?” I said a little cynical.

“I? Blurred? Don't be from nudu!” He shook my head. “From yesterday I was here following you. See this.”

Kato snapped his finger. In an instant, he disappeared from my sight. Then, he reappeared.

“Udah understand now? It's called akasha mohana. I can disappear from sight.”

I looked up in surprise. One more out-of-the-box thing Kato showed.

“This means you are translucent?” I said.

“Not! It's more like shifting someone else's focus elsewhere. I stay here, but your brain can't catch where I am,” he said.

“So you didn't run away?” ask me one more time.

“No,” the answer is short.

“Why? What's reason?” I shot him with a series of questions.

“I can leave you. You're a good man, Na. I can't bodo very same person who has already given me PS5 Just-free,” he explained while showing the PS5 box in his hand..

I massaged my forehead. I don't think about the answer. Not because of anger, but for other reasons.

I apologized to Kato for accusing him.

“That's okay. By the way, I'm laper. Find a meal yuk!” bring him.

I breathe a sigh of relief. “You burger? I'm the one who bought.”

He's nodding.

Kato invited me to a fast food restaurant that opened in Malioboro mall. I had suggested another place that was closer, but Kato insisted. He said he wanted to walk down Malioboro street with me.

“You while holding hands?” he offered himself.

I feel like he's playing me.

“Your joke is ugly, Kato!” I said.

She laughs. “Ah not fun! Though rarely you can hold the hands of a beautiful girl like me.”

“Sorry not interested,” I said then walked first while Kato followed from behind.

Malioboro is as crowded as ever. Busy people enjoy the night atmosphere offered by this historical street. There are those who sit down to make out, just walk around aimlessly, or just take a selfie.

Further walking, I also found a performance of art studio featuring musical instruments and dance. They are used to performing in Malioboro almost every night. Therefore, the art studio became an icon of its own entertainment for travelers.

From where I stand, stands the magnificent hotel building which is meant by Niki. If the twins' birthday party is held there it means they are also staying at that hotel. The shadow of my mother's face flashed through my mind.

“Malah daydreaming. What else to think?” Kato patted my shoulder. Reverie caved.

“Nothing.” I continued walking.

“Do you still think about your mother?” kato said.

Stalled steps. Memories from the past appear in the eye.

In my memory, mother is not a gentle figure. He was a person with a hard and violent character. I was even drowned in the bathtub by him.

After Nika and Niki are born, the mother's nature changes. He seems to be a different person. She takes care of the twins with great affection. There was no mockery, snapping, or explosive anger. But that doesn't apply to me.

“Can we buy burger now, Kato?” I said to divert the conversation.

The girl nodded. He seemed to notice a change in my tone just now. Does Kato feel sadness, anger, and disappointment in my words? I don't know. He nodded then led the way to the fast food stall.

Kato asked me to find a place while he ordered food. So I chose a seat by the window. The view of Malioboro street crowd can be seen from here clearly.

“Sorry long.” Kato came along with two packages of delux burgers.

I'm nodding.

I took the burger and bit it with one big bite. It feels good, I think I can spend this in an instant. However, I found Kato still not touching his food. His eyes slightly fell.

“Why not eat?” my many.

Our eyes meet.

“I'm sorry. I felt my words were too late,” he said.

I put my burger on the plate and sat down.

“Nothing, Kato. I'm not offended at all. I admit he has a bad attitude. So, don't put your heart in,” I said.

Kato nodded then ate his burger. However, it still feels like something is breaking between us. I find Kato still stealing my eyes.

“What's up? You wonder why my mom can be that bad?” my many.

He shook his head and immediately corrected his attitude. “Not also. I am a stranger. I don't have the right to ask you about your problems, do I?”

Curious about the lives of others is reasonableness. It's just, too brazen if to kepo— too curious to disturb. Here, Kato realized his position as a foreigner. He chose to hold his mouth to ask in order to keep my feelings.

Not once have I met a stranger. Every time I meet them, I feel scared and anxious. However, when I was with Kato, I didn't really feel that way. I felt like I was meeting an old friend. We understand each other and exist in the same frequency.

“Kato ... What if we get it?” I said.

“Kita? The cement? You sure?” saith.

“Iya,” I replied steady.

Kato stared around.

“Anu ... Nana. I don't mind at all Just .. You should know that I'm not human. You saw for yourself that I was not normal. I'm Manujagala—half demon.” He's talking seriously.

“Continue? What's problem? I don't care if you're a demon or not. I just feel that I can find you must be fun,” I said.

Kato seemed to gasp at my words. However, there was a faint smile on his lips.

“From the first time you have not changed at all yes Na.” He muttered in a small voice. I can't hear it clearly.

“So what did you say?” my many.

“Nothing. If so, let's be friends. Be prepared because I will often recoki you every day.” He asked me to shake hands.

I took his hand. “No problem.”

Kato and I were there for a long time. Besides because we were lazy to move places, also because Kato he challenged me to play UNO. One of the most popular card games among young people.

“Let's bet! We played 5 rounds. The loser has to demand one request from the winner. Deal?” Kato handed out the card.

“Deal!” My nostrils are so excited.

“Do you are ready to lose, Nana?” said.

Curse my cards and start strategizing. Kato had just dug his own grave. He did not know who had challenged him.

“Hei Kato's. Just so you know, I have never lost to play UNO. Get ready to cry in the corner.” The fire of competition lit up in my eyes.

Round after round passed and I was always the winner. In the last round I beat Kato. He stared at the pile of cards on the table. The stress was clearly visible on his face.

“Kok can anyway?!” he's breaking the table.

“Kan told you. I've never lost to UNO.” I'm bragging.

“Great damn it! Once in a while I won cake.” He threw away face.

“Bet Yes bet. So can I ask you something?” I said.

Kato let out a sigh.

“Yes what do you want? Don't be that weird!” said.

Kurogoh my back pocket to pick up the letter Dwiki had given me earlier. I took out the letter and showed it to Kato. He read the contents carefully. His face turned confused and curious.

After she finished reading, Kato raised her head and looked at me with questioning eyes. “This invitation letter of the party? Who is this from?”

“My stepfather. He's a scoundrel who threatens. I was forced to attend my sister's birthday party.” I gulped the last drop of soda in the glass.

“Tomorrow. Me and you. We were both at my sister's birthday party. You can't do it?” my connection.

“HAH? Can't! I don't want.” He declined.

“Jadi ... Do you want to break a promise? He said that the loser had to follow the will that won,”.

“But, not gini either! I've never been to a fancy event. I don't know how polite you are in your family either. The point is, I'm afraid to make you embarrassed,” he explained.

I thought for a moment.

“Kato. You said you were half demon, right? What was his name just now? Manujagala?” I said.

“Iya it. Why why?”

“You can change shape no?” my many.

Kato narrowed his eyes. He seemed to be aware of where our conversation was heading. Then I whispered my plan to him. His facial water instantly turned wry.

“Nana. Actually, I didn't like your idea just now. I'll agree, but on two terms,”.

“OK, what are the terms?” I said.

“The first: I'm not a pet. So keep thinking I'm human,”.

“Keep the second what?” I said.

Kato glanced at the jacket I was wearing.
