Promise or True Love

Aria's Decree

The night was getting late, all the invited guests had gone home.

“ Once again..happy birthday dear.” Reza said, he kissed his future wife's forehead and then gently stroked her hair.

“ Thank you, oh yes there is something I want to say. I want to talk to you and dad.” Aria.

“ Talk about what?.” Reza's feelings are starting to feel bad.

“ There only yuk.” Take Aria, his hand directly holding Reza's arm. And Reza also followed Aria's steps towards the gazebo that had been satin by her father.

Ananta already knew what his single daughter was going to discuss. It's the night of his 19th birthday. And Aria has a special request as her birthday present.

“ Sit lah.” Ananta Pinta.

Reza and Aria were sitting right in front of Ananta.

“ Father...Reza, you are two special men that I love very much. I am amazed by your commitment to be able to fight for each of your promises until now. I'm sure it's not easy.” Said Aria starting the conversation, now her eyes are glancing towards Reza.

“ And I, is just a child who from birth has no choice to except to comply with all that father wants.” Aria looked at her father.

“ But I will never be angry let alone disappointed with my father, I live everything with sincerity and happiness. Being your princess is my pride.” Aria continued, Ananta's eyes began to hear the words of his daughter.

“ And according to your promise, will grant each one a request from me at this time. Can I ask for it now?.” Ask Aria to Reza and her father.

“ Tell me, dad will grant it.” Answer Ananta. Reza remained silent.

“ Reza...how about you?.” Aria asked again to disperse Reza's daydream.

“ Yes, I will also grant.” Reza answered with a heavy heart.

“ Well, first..dad, I want to pursue my ideals. College at Oxford was my dream from childhood. I hope you can grant me this wish.” Said Aria, looking expectantly at her father.

Ananta took a deep breath. It was hard for him to let Aria go to college in England. But he had already promised to grant her one wish. Ananta had guessed before, but still his heart felt tight when he heard Aria's wishes directly.

“ Good, I believe in you. I'll visit you there often.” Ananta's words make Aria feel the satisfaction and freedom that has been dreamed of.

Aria got up from her chair, then hugged Ananta very tightly happily.

“ Thanks dad, I promise I can take good care of myself. I'll contact dad more often when there.” Said Aria with her joy.

Reza smiled, even though his heart was troubled. If Aria went to college there, they would rarely meet. Separated by different distances and times.

“ And one more request to you.” Said Aria heavily, her heart started pounding before saying it.

“ I want us to cancel our engagement.” Aria surprised Reza and Ananta.

“ Why?, dad does not agree!.” Ananta's protest was loud, his eyes bulging full of anger.

And so did Reza. His heart was burning when he heard Aria's words earlier.

“ Sorry in advance. Maybe you guys will be disappointed, but I've considered carefully.“ Said Aria again.

“ Is it because of Khiana?, I have told you many times. Me and Khiana have no feelings. We're just friends. If you don't like me being close to him I'll get as far away from him as possible.” Reza.

“ Hahaha, not Reza. I don't care about your feelings. I just want to feel the freedom in determining my heart. Because all this time my father forbade me to fall in love with any man.” Aria.

“ Yes, you already know what the reason is? Why it's like this. I think you know and love each other. Who is Khiana?, Reza said there was no feeling to the woman!” Ananta still couldn't accept.

“ Father..I'm sorry, I asked for this request to Reza. I beg you, I definitely want the best for us right?, let us determine our feelings. I don't want either me or Reza to get married because of force.” Aria.

“ I disagree.” Reza.

“ You promised me you'd grant me one wish, right?.” Aria tries to remember.

“ Yes...but I have also promised to marry you!.” Reza began to provoke his emotions.

“ These are the two promises you must keep. But the first one we take for granted because of this second promise. Reza, I don't want to get married just because of your own promise in the past.” Said Aria again.

“ I beg you very much, let me gain the freedom to determine my feelings. So that later there will be no more regrets among us.” Aria.

Reza and Ananta looked at each other.

“ Good Aria, I grant your request. We cancel our engagement. And I give you the freedom to love another man.” Reza said that Ananta was very disappointed.

“ You want to let go of Aria?, is it because of the woman?!.” Ananta asked annoyed.

“ Just maybe, Aria's right uncle. Marrying Aria was a promise of my own past. I have kept my promise until now. But if Aria doesn't want it, I won't force it either.” Answer Reza.

Actually this is what Aria expected, but her heart turned out to be painful.

“ Okay, agreed yes. Father and Reza, I look forward to loving you.” Said Aria cheerfully to hold back the tears that would fall on both of her cheeks.
