Numbness (Lidya)
Chapter 2 Lidya's Childhood

POV Author

Lidya is very happy living in the village with her grandmother and grandfather. Since childhood he left his mother named Litha and his father named Ali wander in the city, so his mother entrusted to his parents. Not without reason, but the economic reasons that require migrating.

Lidya has been living since the age of 1 year. He was used to the affection of his grandparents, but did not forget his father and mother who worked in the city.

Every time he was off work, Lidya's parents always visited him in the village. Every holiday before the holidays are usually a long holiday also at the end of the year before the turn of the year.

Like a few years ago, when Lidya was 5. Little Lidya, who used to sleep in one bed with her grandparents, now sleeps with her father and mother. You can imagine how happy it is. Sheds all her misses to her dear old man.

The time shows at 3 am on the 27th of Ramadan. All Muslims are obliged to fast. That morning, both of Lidya's parents were eating sahur. Lidya is still sleeping. Second by second, minute by minute until changing hours. Until the morning adhan reverberates, it is time to perform dawn prayer.

The Lidya family conducts morning prayers. After finishing the congregational prayer, the three of them walked the road. Because it's so crowded on those streets. It is a hereditary habit in the village of Lidya it is so. If after the dawn prayer, the streets must be crowded by people who want to walk the road. There is just a road, there are those who want to scare people with mercons there are also those who just breathe the clear morning air.

At that time, Lidya street flanked by her parents. The left hand was in Litha's hand and the right hand was in Ali's. It's sweet, isn't it???

Occasionally Lidya's parents prank. When holding hands, Ali ran until Lidya and Litha chased after him. Like an Indian movie, right???

"Dad, don't run away. Mom and I are tired of chasing him". Said Lidya while bored because of running.

"Yes Well. We're tired". The same Litha said

"Yes. Sorry dad for making you both tired..heheee". Reply Ali while showing her teeth.

"Yes, go home yuk". Bring Litha

They also went home.

Once at home, the three of them rest. Selonjoran legs and occasionally lying on the floor is still made of bricks (the basic material to build a wall). Lidya's grandparents' house is still a traditional house whose building has long stood, namely since the great-grandfather Lidya was young until now. Mbah Lidya's great-grandfather was named Mbah Irah. Now he is old. Range 75 years and above.

Once it is in taste enough to restore energy. They took turns bathing. In the house, there is only one bathroom. So I have to replace.

Now they are clean and fragrant. In the atmosphere of Ramadan before the Eid al-Fitr, usually Mbah Inem makes traditional food, namely madumongso. Madumongso is a food made from sticky rice. The sticky rice is steamed, then leavened and fermented into a tape. Other additives are coconut milk and brown sugar. Coconut milk is boiled with brown sugar. After boiling, insert the tape and stir the texture into a slight curve. Let stand for a while, after cold, wrap using clear plastic that usually has a picture patterned funny.

That day Lidya and Litha help Mbah Inem silence his madumongso. While Ali, Lidya's father is helping Mbah Miskun clean the house.

Not without reason, Mbah Inem painstakingly made madumongso because it will be used as a treat at the table for guests as well as a gawan for neighbors and relatives of his brother.

Gawan is a parcel for guests that we will visit on the holiday.

After finishing, Lidya and Litha laid down her body on the long chair. Until overslept.

Time has changed before Magrib. All iftar menus have been served, snacks for treats at the table are partly made. The term is now called homemade food.

Adzan magrib has reverberated. The Lidya family opened together in the kitchen. Thank you for enjoying the fast on the 27th of this Ramadan. Not feeling 3 days ahead of Lebaran.
