Not the Story of Siti Nurbaya
Birthday Gift

It was dusk when Zikra's motorbike went into his parents' garage. He frowned seeing the red sedan belonging to Ayuniatara also parked there. Syifa was silent because she could guess the girl's presence.

After removing the helmet and carrying some paper bags Zikra and Syifa entered. As they suspected, the car driver was inside chatting beautifully with Sita, the woman Zikra respected the most.

"Hi." the sap is warm.

"Oh, hello," said Zikra.

Unabashedly Ayuniatara directly chipika-cipiki in front of Syifa's nose. The girl widened in shock, then shifted her gaze. The pain of jealousy suddenly slipped into his heart.

Ayu smiled triumphantly at Syifa expression. It was as if he had said, "in a moment I will succeed in seizing Fatir's love. And in no time, she'll be mine forever."

"Darling ... Why did you just come?" Sita hugged her eldest son's tall body warmly. Confronting Syifa who was about to kiss her hand.

Syifa grunted softly.

Ayu smiled cynically.

"Yes Ma. We stopped by the mall to find a present for Mama."

"Jeez .. don't bother looking for a gift for Mama. You come here alone it's already the most beautiful gift for Mama." received the paper bag that Zikra gave.

Zikra smiled happily.

"Shyfa."

"Yes Ma." said quickly with his best smile.

"Please go to the kitchen, get Zikra a glass of cold water. The syrup is in the refrigerator" Sita said as if Syifa was a maid in her house.

Syifa was stunned to hear it.

"Ma, how do I tell Syifa like that maid?" zikra's protest didn't take it. "remember Ma, Syifa is my wife."

"Honey .. precisely because Syifa your wife Mama told her so. Remember, one of the biggest obligations of a wife is to serve her husband well. Cook the hell Mama told nak Ayu to do it to serve you." he defended himself.

Ayu grinned obliquely.

"But Ma ... Syifa guests are here. And we just got there."

"Zik, no papa." Syifa touched her husband's hand while shaking her head.

"Yes already aunty, let Ayu make them drink," Ayu tried to find face in front of Zikra and Sita.

"Mbak Ayu, let me do it." Syifa took over.

Zikra was disappointed with Sita's attitude of treating his wife like a maid. They had two servants ready to do whatever they asked.

Syifa tried to put aside her disappointment by being positive thinking. She was sure that her mother-in-law did not consider her a maid. Only the application of a wife's obligations to the husband. Bring a cold drink glass with a tray to make it more polite.

A happy smile puffed up at the corner of Syifa's lips. But it didn't last long. All faded saw the shameless-looking Ayu sitting beside Zikra while hugging her arms tightly. The grin on her pretty face was not like a bully woman. No matter how often Zikra brushed aside and ordered to keep her distance.

Syifa just stood glued to the sight that only made her eyes ache. Both of them tightly gripped the end of the tray he was holding. Her tears almost spilled. In a hurry he turned his body back to the kitchen. Put that tray on the table rough.

"What's up, Neng?" tegur Minah's.

Syifa turned her head roughly to the source of the voice.

"No papa Bi," he answered quickly. Attracting a line of smiles that feel very bitter. His eyes were wet with tears.

Minah turned her eyes to see the look on the girl's face was moody.

"Shyfa." Zikra followed into the kitchen after a long time the girl did not appear.

Syifa turned her head to the source of the sound. But he immediately turned back in the opposite direction so that Zikra did not know the sadness in his eyes.

Minah went straight out leaving the two of them in the kitchen.

"What's wrong?" her tan was cold as she wiped her tears silently.

"Why are you so long anyway, just making a drink doang kayak for syrup factory."

Syifa just kept silent not wanting to answer.

Zikra pulled Syifa's arm roughly. Until the girl's body was in a very close distance.

Syifa was shocked. Repel embrace of Zikra. But the young man did not want to let go. It even added strength to tighten his embrace. A subtle sigh suddenly churned within his chest. Syifa was very uncomfortable and embarrassed to be in such a close distance. Bowing his face avoided the young man's eyes before him. Zikra's breath was very felt on his face.

Somehow in recent days Zikra's attitude impressed aggressive towards Syifa. Zikra has never been like this before. Even when they were both in the house. Could it be because of a date the other day? Is that so ...

"Zik, please let go!" syifa exclaimed awkwardly. "shy to see people."

"Let them be like this."

"Thum!" Syifa pushed Zikra's chest.

Zikra held Syifa's chin. He wanted to kiss the girl's lips. He was happy to play with his innocent wife. Seeing his face meet red every time near him is a pleasure in itself. At the same time want to show Ayu or Tara has acted like a shadow Zikra always does not want to be far from him since the beginning of his arrival. That his feelings are now only for Syifa, until there is no more gap for the girl to enter his life.

Ayu is very angry to want to pull Syifa away from the man she loves. But he instantly calmed himself, controlling his emotions by tightly gripping all his fingers in the grasp of his own hand.

"What the fuck?" Sita was furious at the sight she should not have seen. Pouring Zikra's intention to kiss Syifa. Glancing at Syifa was not happy. "if you want to be friendly to go to the room there. Not in the kitchen. The child of today." immediately left the kitchen.

Syifa instantly broke away from Zikra's embrace. Her face was red.

"Ah, Mama ... disturb aja nih.." sulked the young man while grunting softly. Zikra was satisfied to see the girl misbehaving.

Zikra, Syifa, Sita, Ayu and Surya were already sitting at the dining table. Surya accidentally invites his son and daughter-in-law to dinner together for the first time since they got married. A happy smile also rose at the corner of his lips. But his smile faded away seeing Ayu's presence. He did not invite the girl to his house. After that let us enjoy the dinner prepared by Minah.

Sita smiled happily managed to present Ayu in their midst. Because of his busyness Ayu is willing to accept his dinner invitation. But he was a little disappointed not to be able to match Ayu and Zikra's seat. Of course because he was afraid Surya would get angry.

Still fresh is her recollection of her husband's anger eight years ago. At that time Surya knew the relationship between Zikra and Ayu when both were still in High School. Although he did not show his anger at his son and wife by exploding. Sita can feel Surya's anger when he suddenly moves his son's school in a very distant place.

"How are your Father and Mother, Syifa? Are they okay?" surya asked starting the conversation.

Syifa was shocked. He was silent not knowing what to answer.

"What's wrong? Why not answer?" search Surya.

Everyone stared at Syifa demanding an answer from her.

"Actually ..it's been almost three months that Dad and Mommy can't be contacted" he replied in his heart. "Mother's father is fine, Pa." he said after a long silence. His smile looks stiff.

"Thank God then. Because you haven't seen them in a long time. Last time Papa called your dad, his number was off."

Suddenly Syifa's face stiffened. "What's wrong, Pa?" biting his lower lip.

Zikra watched Syifa's tense face as if she was hiding something.

"Yes." Yeah."

"Just yesterday we called. So ... I don't think it's possible ..."

"Maybe there signaled another crappy time, Pa. Or it could be that Dad is not active anymore," said Zikra. "doesn't you, baby?" rolling one of his eyes at the naughty Syifa.

Syifa was surprised to see Zikra's attitude turn aggressive. He just smiled awkwardly.

"It can be." Surya nodded his head.

Sita chewed her food and then accidentally said, "Remember Syifa, if your father comes later you must immediately leave Zikra's house. Because you're just a girl's care."

"Mama!" snapped Surya with a high tone.

Syifa was shocked half to death to hear the words gliding from her mother-in-law's mouth. It should not be said like that in front of her husband and child, also in front of Ayu who incidentally only outsiders. Without dropping his tablespoon on the plate hard. His face was bowed in.

Zikra clenched his hands on the table. Stand up.

"Syifa my wife isn't the girl. He's not going anywhere without my permission" Zikra said. "

Sita still covered her mouth with her hands. Her pair of beads glanced at her husband with a feeling of great fear. "sorry, Pa." she muttered.

Surya was angry at his wife.

Ayu just silently enjoyed the show not daring to interfere.

"You must not be angry" Syifa touched Zikra's hand with a bitter smile. "Mama is right. I'll be gone when Dad comes to pick me up."

"But you ..."

"Yes, nothing is wrong. Let's continue the dinner, the food will be cold." Syifa tried to neutralize the atmosphere with a big smile. Even in his heart he was hurt.

"Sorry Mama to Syifa. Mama doesn't mean ..."

"No papa, Ma. Syifa understood Mama's intention." Syifa showed her best smile.

"Since the dinner isn't over yet, let's move on. Just think of it as intermezo," Surya tried to show his bitter smile.

Dinner was continued without sound or casual chatter. The atmosphere on the dining table was stiff and cold.

Syifa urged Zikra's hand to sit down again. She tried to seduce him with her sad eyes. Although reluctant finally Zikra willing to comply with his request. Syifa smiled cheerfully. Steam food from his tablespoon to dilute the atmosphere. Zikra shook her head, again her heart was melted with a spoiled expression and sulked the girl. His mouth was opened wide so that the tablespoon could enter.

After dinner, Surya called Sita and Zikra to the reading room. While Syifa and Ayu choose to take a walk in the garden behind the beautiful house.

"I was very jealous to see Fatir's attitude towards you in the kitchen," said Ayu Lirih. "formerly, Fatir never treated me like that."

Syifa smiled happily.

"But I'm so glad you're leaving soon. And Aunt Sita doesn't seem to expect you to be her daughter-in-law." glanced at Syifa with a triumphant smile. "you need to know that Aunt Sita has proposed to me. It's not formal. But ... Aunty Sita promised to propose to me formally before my parents in Surabaya, right after you left Fatir's life. And it's gonna happen any minute. I can't wait for that day."

Could it be like that? It hurts to hear it.

"Yes, you have been living with Fatir. Have you ever seen a gift wrapped in pink paper?"

"Corno?"

"Yes. A kind of birthday present. The gift is always prepared every year. It just ends up in the closet. Because the gift was never given to someone."

Syifa shook her head. Don't know Zikra's activities on that one. Then he remembered when at the mall Zikra had said he wanted to buy a gift for his mother who was on her birthday.

"Maybe it's for her mom. Because before coming here, Zikra bought a birthday gift for her Mama at the mall." said plain.

"Oh yeah? Hahaha ..." Ayu chuckles amusedly. "then you believe so?"

Syifa nodded her head.

"Based on a stupid girl!" hardik Ayu. "want to be lied to."

Syifa frowned.

"Aunte Sita's birthday was a few months ago."

Syifa was silent and really did not give much away about the Zikra family.  He only knew Aini and knew her date of birth because it was stated in the absence of class. Of course not today. Or goods times ...

"Surely you are thinking about Om Surya" said Ayu as if he could read the contents of Syifa's mind. "Om Surya never celebrated his birthday."

"Bak Ayu don't make it up." Syifa did not believe.

"What's? there is a word you. Heh! Before they moved to this town, I was about their family. Both of our parents are very familiar. So, just being informed of their birthdays is not a big deal to me. If you don't believe you can check in her wardrobe. There is a special room to put all the gifts. The gift was prepared from nine or ten years ago. So it's more than three gifts."

"Neng Syifa," exclaimed Minah coming over. "sorry if I come to disturb."

"Yes Ma'am. What's up?"

"Neng Syifa asked Mas Zikra to come to his room."

"All right."

Minah immediately went away.

After saying goodbye to Ayu, the girl immediately entered into Zikra's room on the second floor. But there's nobody. Maybe he'll be here soon. Then he decided to wait by sitting on the bed. The white sheets that covered the mattress were suddenly stained by her translucent menstrual blood all the way out to everywhere.

Syifa panic. In a hurry he pulled the sheets from the bed. Take her to the bathroom in Zikra's room. Washing with bath soap, while in the bathroom this one guy does not provide washing soap. Rub it cleanly while occasionally being kissed to make sure it does not leave a rancid smell of menstrual blood.

The hesitation of rewiring the bedsheet undoes his intentions. Is it impossible for Zikra to be angry when he finds out about it? Syifa opened the four-door closet not far from where she was standing. Honey, the first, second and third doors are locked. Only the fourth door was unlocked. Not yet had time to open suddenly there was one sturdy hand from behind him, pushing back and closing it tightly. But he could see from the door of the closet there was something pink. He was sure it was a gift like what Ayu told him.

Syifa turned her body. His eyes widened in shock at Zikra standing before him with one hand still attached to the closet door. Kontan girl immediately leaned her body on the closet door because it was locked by her.

"What are you looking for here?" search with a sharp look.

Syifa rolled her eyes. Then opened his eyes.

"Eeehhhh .. me again .. find ... bed sheets. Ah yes, bed sheets." said Syifa nervously.

"Wheel?" frowned asking for an explanation. "to ..."

"I-it .. ta-tadi a-I didn't intentionally dirty it. Because suddenly I tembusss ..." gestured. Zikra understood immediately.

Zikra quickly opened the second closet door. Take a new bed sheet with a sea blue color that is dominated by matching color flowers. After that put it up without asking anyone for help.

Syifa stood there not daring to sit down again.

Zikra looked at him in wonder.

"Why are you still standing there? Come sit!" Zikra patted her bed so that the girl would sit down immediately.

"A-I ... I ..." bit her lower lip, then lowered her head.

Zikra grunted softly. It seemed like he had already begun to understand his wife's attitude. He opened his closet again, took his shirt and pants.

"Wear it!" give it to the girl.

"No, we're going home. Better let's go home now. I'm not at home."

"Tonight we'll stay here."

"Staying?" Syifa took a sip of his saliva.

“Why? How are you so tense anyway, hear we're staying?” zikra's eyes were piercing Syifa's eyes.

The girl immediately looked the other way so that the young man before her did not realize how nervous she was going to stay

in the same room. For the first time a couple who always separated space, now trapped in one room and share the air.

“Uh! Who's the uptight one? I used to just,” let him pretend there is no problem. “aku Just not ordinary

sleeping in someone else's house. Because Mother used to be the same Father never allowed me to stay at someone else's house. Except at the house of the closest relatives. That's only if there are certain events aja.”

“Oya?”

Syifa nodded steadily.
