My In-laws

My In-laws
Chapter 8. The Kuyang Child Shaman

"Maaa, my stomach hurts so much, it looks like I'm about to give birth!" Rintih Lara in the afternoon Thursday a few days after the recitation.

"Aren't your fetuses eight months?!" Ask Mama Hanum.

"Udah twenty more weeks, Ma! It hurts like non-jok-non-jok my stomach!" Lara grimaced with incredible pain.

"But, I'm asking Ivan to help fadli! You must survive!" Mama Hanum rushed to meet Bi Ratih's son next to her house.

Lara groaned to endure the pain that was becoming more so, her stomach felt torn.

"Van, Lara's got a stomachache! Please tell Fadli!" pinta Mama Hanum was anxious and panicked.

"Aren't you wasting your time, Bi? It's not better we take Lara to the health center or the hospital, after that it's just fadli!" ivan gave me advice.

"Well, which is good!" Mama Hanum agreed.

"I'm a minjem Car same old man, yeah!" Ivan rushes to pick up a joint-owned pick-up car in the village.

Mama Hanum agrees, then she turns around to make sure Lara's condition.

"Ma, I don't want to go to the hospital! I'm afraid of surgery, mending to the shaman's house!" pinta Lara is scared.

"Well, if you want that!" Mama Hanum did not refuse.

Twenty years back the women in the author's place would rather give birth to the same shaman than to the hospital.

"Van, don't borrow a car! Lara does not want to go to the hospital, mending you pick up a child shaman Mak Lamsiah aja! Bring him here!" mama Hanum exclaimed to Ivan from inside the house.

"That means I'm going straight to the little witch doctor's house?!" ask Ivan.

"Yes son!"

"Alright, bi!" Ivan drove his motorbike towards Mak Lamsiah's house at the end of the village.

Mak Hanum returned to accompany Lara while massaging Lara's stomach slowly, Lara whimpering occasionally in pain.

"The water has broken?" Tanya Bi Ratih had just arrived.

"There's no sign, but Lara's in pain!" answer Mama Hanum.

Some neighbors also visited Lara. Bi Ratih started burning bonfires to drive away the evil creatures.

Shortly afterwards Ivan came to ride Mak Lamsiah. The figure of the child shaman is very authoritative and still beautiful, even though his age is above by Bi Ratih and Mama Hanum, even the child shaman who used to help their delivery. The shaman is known for his special bun, every invited to help with childbirth, he always wears a kebaya with a neat array, and wears a large conde like old mothers who will go to wedding receptions. Her lips are always red, the effect of the hive.

"Yuhhhhh!" The shaman spat his kinangan baby before entering the house.

Mama Hanum welcomed her arrival while helping to bring a bag containing maternity tools.

"Please, mom!" Mama Hanum said, Please come in.

Mak Lamsiah immediately sat near the bed where Lara lay in pain, holding Lara's stomach repeatedly, checking if it was time to give birth.

"Not yet!" said Mak Lamsiah flat.

"But why is he in pain?" ask Mama Hanum.

"It's common, sometimes it's a sign of childbirth, but your child is just in a state of pain!" said Mak Lamsiah while massaging Lara's stomach.

Not coincidentally, Lara's stomach stopped hurting after being sorted by the child shaman.

"Mom, Mommy, if you're not busy, please come to my house, my wife is giving birth, the waters are breaking!" said a man on the porch asking Mak Lamsiah to come with him.

"Alright, come!" Mak Lamsiah never stayed home, every day called by people who need it.

"What about my son, mother?" Ask Mama Hanum.

"He was calm, the pain was gone!" mak Lamsiah got up from sitting down.

Lara nodded, Mama Hanum was relieved to see Lara stop screaming in pain. Mak Lamsiah went along with the man who had just called her.

It was getting dark, Ivan came with Fadli. Shortly after Fadli's arrival, Lara's condition worsened, she began to scream in pain, her hands holding sheets very strong, sweat pouring all over her body. Fadli panicked to see Lara in such a state.

"Van, I think Lara should take us to the hospital, I'm not sure she's okay!" mama Hanum said worriedly.

"It's better!" The Timpal Bi Ratih.

Byuuuuurrrr, something came out from under Lara's thigh, and Lara screamed loudly, and they were surprised because the liquid that had just come out was red, not amniotic water.

"Slow, Lara's getting worse!" mama Hanum was panicking.

"Don't despair, let's get him to the hospital!" bi Ratih.

"Fadli, let's get Lara to the hospital!" mama Hanum.

"Ma, Lara's unconscious!" fadli said worried.

"Don't let anything untoward happen!" mama Hanum was no less worried.

Fadli came not to bring his Car, so Ivan had to borrow a car owned together in the village.

Soon Ivan shows up with a pick-up car and parks it on the property, helping Fadli and some of the residents carry Lara into the car.

Ivan quickly drives the car to the hospital, fearing that something untoward is happening to his cousin.

Arriving at the hospital, the nurses rush to move Lara to the gurney, and bring her to the maternity ward, the family is asked to wait outside.

Fadli walked back and forth uncharacteristically, Mama Hanum whipped in panic. For those who entered the hospital at that time was very rare, because they were used to giving birth to assisted shamans.

A few hours passed, a doctor came out of the room to see Lara's family.

"Sir, ma'am, I'm sorry, but the mother survived but the baby died in the womb!" said doctor.

"Can I do doc?! My son is over twenty weeks pregnant, isn't he already strong?" mama Hanum said she couldn't believe it.

"That could happen even if the pregnancy is old, ma'am! The contents have an infection, so the fetus can not survive and eventually die in the womb!" obviously the doctor.

Mama Hanum thought maybe because several times disturbed by the kuyang-kuyang, Fadli also thought the same.

"The patient must be operated on or in a curette to remove the body of the fetus! Families can discuss wanting to choose an operation or curettage!" The doctor said as it passed.

Fadli and Lara's family embrace Lara's safety.

"Dikuret is very sick!" bi Ratih.

"We wait for Lara to come to her senses, and ask her?!" mama Hanum's Proposal.

"Ma, I can't tell Lara about this bad news!" fadli said sadly.

"Lara must be strong, we'd better tell her than she'll know for herself!" mama Hanum is trying hard.

"Better Fadli himself who gave it!" bi Ratih.

The family agreed with Bi Ratih's proposal. Soon a nurse appears and tells Lara that she is awake.

"Son, you go in first, tell Lara slowly!?" mama Hanum said she was worried that Lara was sad.

"What's wrong with our baby, baby?!" ask Lara slowly.

"You don't have to be sad!" Fadli tried to calm down.

"Our baby's okay, right?!" ask Lara again.

"Our baby doesn't exist, baby!" fadli lirih.

Lara said nothing, only her tears answered Fadli's words.

"The doctor said you have to have surgery or curettage, you can choose for yourself!" Fadli told Lara.

"What's the best!" Lara said without passion.

Lara has not been able to control herself from the sadness, she is very bad for the tragedy that befell her household. Fadli helped him think, he suggested for surgery better than a very sick curette. Lara agreed to the husband's advice. Fadli may tell doctors about their decision to opt for surgery.

"Well, we'll do it soon!" doctors are quick to act for the safety of their patients.

Mama Hanum and Bi Ratih patiently wait for Lara's fetal removal process, Fadli is still there to take care of Lara.

The operation went well, Lara was allowed to move to the hospital, but not yet allowed to go home. Fadli is forced to return home to Lara's parents with Ivan to bury their baby. While Mama Hanum and Bi Ratih accidentally did not come home to look after Lara.

It was noon, no one slept all night, Mama Hanum asked Bi Ratih to take a short break so as not to get sick.

"All right, I'm going to bed for a second!" said Bi Ratih looks tired after a night of staying up.

"That's an empty bed, sleepin' there like no other patient!" mama Hanum said she saw her brother trying to sleep on the floor with a mat made of woven.

"Gak ah, males became a patient!" Bi Ratih refused to prefer to sleep under the bed where Mama Hanum slept.

"There are, well-given even hard nyari!" mama Hanum said to her head.

Bi Ratih tried to close his eyes, but a nurse came to check on Lara.

"Excuse me ma'am!" greet the nurse in a flat tone.

"Please sisters!" said Mama Hanum.

The nurse checked Lara's condition while allowing the infusion. A cold atmosphere enveloped the room, as if an invisible creature was in the room.

After some time in the room, the nurse left.

"Hanum, did you notice the nurse earlier?" asked Bi Ratih from under the bed.

"So, why?" ask Mama Hanum.

"How face? Old or young?" bi Ratih asked back.

"Now, not too young or too old!" timpal Mama Hanum's.

"You're aware? I saw her feet not stepping on the floor!" said Bi Ratih began to creep.

"Oh, did you see it wrong!? You're exhausted, so it's ngaco!" mama Hanum said she could not believe it.

"I haven't slept, when the nurse came I was confused, his feet didn't touch the floor, you like not to look at who is talking" Bi Ratih insisted.

"I see the usual way?!" mama Hanum's reply won't lose.

"Excuse me, ma!" another nurse came by while Mama Hanum and Bi Ratih were arguing.

Mama Hanum was surprised, because they had just talked about the nurse. Bi Ratih got up and sat out from under the bed, he watched the nurse carefully while looking at Mama Hanum who happened to also look at her, the two wondered in their hearts how many times the nurse examined the patient in the morning.

"Sorry sister, didn't Sister Sudsh just check on my bangs?" tanya Bi Ratih broke the mood.

"When's mom? New now!" the nurse smiled.

"There's another nurse checking in too? ask Bi Ratih.

"On the schedule, I'm the only one checking in this room, ma'am!" obviously the nurse left after checking Lara's condition.

Bi Ratih and Mama Hanum looked at each other, meaning Bi Ratih was right, the first nurse was not human. The two start to get nervous, worried about Lara's state.

Mama Hanum thought hard who else had come just now, not me who but it seemed like an invisible creature that resembled herself as a nurse.

"In the morning there are supernatural beings?!" bi Ratih.

"Maybe it's the Hospital, brother?!" ask Mama Hanum.

"Yes, no wonder!" reply Bi Ratih.

"What's the mission coming here? Be the nurse of all!" said Mama Hanum.

"Pengen said to us that he is not our nation" said Bi Ratih origin.

"We must not also say it, we are tired of the same kuyang-kuyang in the village, even plus the so-called!" moaning Mama Hanum.

Two days later, Lara's condition had improved, the doctor allowed her to go home. Lara is still wondering what caused her baby to die before birth.

Mama Hanum took Lara on her way to Fadli's Car, both of them getting into the Car waiting for Fadli who was taking care of the hospital's expenses.

Shortly thereafter, Fadli appears carrying several plastic bags containing drugs for Lara.

"Ma, do you know anything in the village? Where's Bi Ratih?" Ask Fadli.

"Sir Ratih came home first this afternoon! What's the news in the village, son?" ask Mama Hanum.

"Some who gave birth at the end of the village, assisted by the same shaman Mak Lamsiah, know-how to eat temb*ni the baby directly in the place of childbirth in front of the family of pregnant women!" fadli said.

"Huh? Is Mak Lamsiah a kuyang?" Mama Hanum was in disbelief.

"The story of the people at the end of the village has been suspected for a long time, but there is no evidence, and now it is proven to be real!" fadli.

"Don't she bother baby Lara?!" ask Mama Hanum fretting.

"Can it be Ma?! After she left, Lara immediately convulsed and her condition got worse that time!" fadli reminded.

"I don't know why I chose him to check my content at that time!" regret Lara.

"Not to be sorry, baby! It's all happening, make it a lesson for all of us!" fadli.

"In all villages no one is safe, maybe if living in the city will not be like this?!" said Lara.

"Again, everywhere in our province there is always such, it has become an open secret! Stay alert and watch out!" fadli calmed Lara.

"I still can't believe Mak Lamsiah turned out that way too!" mumble Mama Hanum.

"The people at the end of the village have been suspicious for a long time, Ma! Maybe you didn't hear it because you live in the estuary!" fadli.

Fadli's car slid towards Lara's parents' house, Fadli could not bring him home because it was still in a state not yet sacred, and such conditions are very vulnerable in the pursuit of creatures called kuyang, who are very vulnerable, especially mother.

Lara was deeply traumatized by the events that had happened to her from the beginning of her pregnancy, initially in Palasit by the young kuyang, Santi. Then disturbed his own mother-in-law, and the last convulsions were unclear after being examined by Mak Lamsiah.
