Murder in the City of Marylane

Murder in the City of Marylane
16. Unknown

The four of us went to Raven City after I got the message. We met a woman with a black hat that adorned her head and slightly covered her face. He sat in front of me and Sean while Harry and Dean went to talk to some of the parents of the victims in this town.

This minimalist cafe has many visitors with lo-fi music that meets our sense of hearing.

“I'm Vivian Aldrich. Uh ...” He hung up his words, as if he did not know what to say next.

“Vivian,” call me soft. “Cause.”

I saw her repeatedly rubbing her hands on the skirt she was wearing. His sweaty hands signified that he was very nervous.

“You have a girlfriend from the police when you work here?” I whispered to Sean.

“Ada.”

“Can you get him here?” my many. Sean nodded, then moved on and was about to call his female colleagues first while he worked here.

“You want a drink? I pay.” I'm chit-talking. He nodded slowly. I stood up and ordered three, no, four drinks for us.

I went back to the original table and Sean did the same thing. He hinted me with his eyes that I had called him.

Our drink came and just then, Sean's colleague came. Vivian looked at us both confused. He slightly kept his distance as Sean's colleague sat beside him.

“Just relax, Vivian,” Sean said.

Vivian stirred up her drink in front of him. We are still waiting for this girl to speak.

He breathed in deep breaths. “I ... the victim of that killer.”

Face bowed. He showed his right hand wrapped in the clothes he was wearing. Then he rolled up the sleeves of the clothes he was wearing and opened a plaster covering part of his wrist.

A tattoo that has a dot. Exactly with those victims. Vivian was the first victim, marked with a single spot on her wrist.

“You ... first victim?” asked Sean whose voice resembled a mutter.

“Someone told me that the killer went to the city of Marylane and ‘hunt’ there. Right, I'm the first victim.” He's back down. “The reason I plaster this tattoo is because I don't want to remember it.” He put the plaster back on the tattoo.

The only thing we can do is trust him. I thought it was possible that the tattoo wasn't from a serial killer. But, if I think again, Vivian has been trying to talk about this and it's not easy, is it? There was no point in him lying either.

I saw Sean's colleague approaching and embracing Vivian, rubbing her shoulders as if giving her some calm.

“Vivian, I am so sorry for this terrible incident. And I really appreciate that you want to see us. You can tell it. If you mind, we won't force you.”

“I've called you guys and I've thought a thousand times about this. So, I'll tell you.” He cleared his throat and went back to breathing deeply. Of course, he did not want these memories back in his mind.

“After that terrible incident, I had a chance to escape from there. I don't look back so scared. All I saw as I ran home was a narrow alley with a dim light. It is very quiet there, no one but the shadow will accompany you to walk. I don't remember the details that happened in that room.” He shook. “I don't want to remember.”

“Then, maybe you can describe how to walk when you get home. That will help,” I said. He drank his drink again. Sean's colleague held Vivian's hand and rubbed it, trying to give her some more peace. This is why I asked Sean to call his girlfriend.

“I just walk straight. Looking for someone to ask for help, but no one was there at the time. I looked back, he was looking for me. I hid in a factory.”

“What factory, exactly?”

He tapped his finger on the table a few times. “It was too dark that night. I fell asleep there, and a woman—which I think is a factory employee—help me and drove me home. He asked me what happened, but I didn't answer him until I got home. I saw a lot of cloth there.”

“Ah, I remember something,” he continued. “When I came out of the room, I smelled like gasoline. The place is also dirty.”

“Basoline?” muttered.

“There's more you remember? Slow down.” Sean looked at her curiously.

“There are barbershop lights on that narrow street ...” Voice shrinks.

“Good, Vivian. Nice work. You're great because you've been through those tough times so well.” Sean smiled. “Thank you for your information, Vivian. If you have any more information, you may contact us. By the way, where do you live now?”

He moved his body. “I moved city since that incident and I don't want to remember it by staying in this city.”

“You went far away from your city to get back here?”

Vivian smile. “No problem. After this, I will go abroad. Ah, yes, let's just say I'm your informant, not a witness. That's why I don't want to meet at the police station.”

We nodded in understanding.

“Have you previously reported to the police station?” ask Sean.

“I've done it .. but, he doesn't believe me. He wants proof. I had no evidence back then, so my report was rejected.”

“What?”

Idiotically. What kind of a cop is that.

“You report to whom?”

“I went to the police station. I don't know his name. I saw him write and he was left-handed. His posture is a little short and .. there is a kind of small plant cactus on his desk.”

Sean leaned back. He rubbed his face rough. I'm guessing he knows who detective Vivian is referring to.

“Gosh.” I heard Sean's colleague mutter. He also seemed to know that person.

“But, this serial murder was not broadcast in the media. How do you know that this is a serial murder?” my many. The three of us looked towards him.

“What message?”

Vivian showed us her phone.

There is no information on the news.

Yep.

Raven's police are hiding it. The police chief is stupid.

Raven Police and Marylane Police are working together on the case.

The victims are many. You can inform him and let them catch the criminal.

You

Can I trust him? You certain?

Unknown

Yes, Vivian.

You

Wait, you know me?

Oi!

“I called him, but he didn't reply.”

The three of us stared. Really, we don't know who he is either. Moreover, he mentioned my name.

Are there spies in our police force?

“Detective,” call it. We're looking. “Catch that villain.”

“Will and sure, Vivian.” Sean replied with a smile.

“I'll be home to pick up a suitcase and go to the airport,” Vivian said and stood up. The three of us did the same.

“Rosemary, take her to her house and to the airport. Take him safely,” said Sean and looked at his colleague.

“Ay, ay, Captain!” He's a gesture of respect to Sean.

“I'm not your captain anymore.”

Colleagues Sean—Rosemary—and Vivian leave this cafe. Sean's staring. “I'll go to Raven Police Station. There's something I need to finish there. You go to investigate the factory in question. I'll call Harry and Dean to help you.”

“Alright, Captain!”
