Section 47. The Fainting Moon

“How was school this week? Nothing weird, right?”

A quiet dinner-just the twang of a spoon clashing with an audible plate-is momentarily broken by Irawan's question.

The man loosened the neck-strangling tie then downed the white water inside the glass. He just finished his dinner. He raised a question without looking at the princess.

The activity of the Moon chewing food stopped. So did Mila. The woman stopped her hand that was scooping the side dish and moved it to the plate. For a moment, the two women of that age stared at each other. For a few moments only silence remained. Time stopped turning.
