Memory in Fire
Memory: Valeray

The white lily fields spread wide behind the Marquee of Winterfall's Mansion. The beautiful lily petals swayed slowly in a breeze that felt cool on the skin. Sunlight with its red tinge adds to the beautiful scenery. Very very pampering to the eyes. A tall and dashing man stood under a shady tree, stretching out his arms with a smile. His eyes were closed, enjoying the gust of wind that gently caressed his face. His wood-brown hair was waving in the wind. A fine and thin beard adorned his handsome face. The white tuxedo he wore made his appearance even more stunning. Anyone who sees will be fascinated by it.

“Ray!!”

The voice of the little girl suddenly disturbed the gallant man's calmness. He opened his sharp brown eyes and looked at the lily fields before him. I hope to find that little girl there. But only a small yellow butterfly with a black pattern was seen. The man smiled sadly.

“Ray!!” A little girl waved her hand vigorously, inviting a skinny teenager in a white suit who was smiling to look at her to approach her.

“Come quickly here!” The little girl smiled widely, standing in the shadow of the maple tree that occasionally knocked out its leaves, making one of its leaves fall on the head of the girl.

Valeray walked over and chuckled in amusement at the behavior of the little guy in front of him. He took a leaf from the girl's head and threw it on the ground.

“Princess, Mrs. Milson is restless looking for you everywhere. Why don't you just go back inside? The sun was almost drowned.”ia knelt while tidying up the clothes of the little girl who loved her very much.

The girl scowled irritably, her two cheeks bubbling funny. “I told you, call me Erika! Ray, you're a bitch! Huh!!” Erika folded both hands on her chest, turning her face away from Valeray.

“But you are my employer. I can't call you like that.” Valeray patiently tried to explain.

“You are my brother butler! Not my waiter!” Erika started sulking. He refuses Ray's invitation to enter the mansion.

Valeray feels overwhelmed. He did not know how to explain it to his master on this one. Although raised as a noble, Erika does not like if she is flattered too much.

Erika sees Valeray's face of distress. Then he felt pity. Erika finally just said, “At least don't be too stiff, it feels so weird.”

Valeray smiled with relief and nodded. He stroked Erika's head, as a sign that he agreed to Erika's terms. He decided to break that rule. Because actually a butler should not touch his employer carelessly.

Treated like that, little Erika smiled widely. He pulled Valeray's hand towards the white lily field. Cheerfully, Erika ran around and fro while stretching out her arms and laughing. Her long black hair glittered, with her clear green eyes. His skin is white with reddish cheeks. The one piece white dress she wore added to the girl's beauty and cuteness. Valeray smilingly looked at little Erika, against a backdrop of reddish skies, and the sun that looked perfectly round at the end of the valley.

After being satisfied with running, Erika crouched down and began to admire the flowers before her. He gently touched one of the petals, and smelled it. It's fragrant!

“That's so great! What is this flower?” Erika turned to Valeray, who was crouching beside her.

“This is the Lily flower. White lily flowers symbolize purity and sincerity. Also can symbolize friendship.” Valeray explained that was reciprocated by Erika's nod.

“Friendship? So this flower is for friends?” Erika who still did not understand very well said thus.

Erika picked quite a lot. His hands were almost overwhelmed hugging the flower stalks that covered his face. He took her under a maple tree. While humming cheerfully, Erika looked very busy with her activities. Not long after, he ran over to Valeray who had not moved from his place and smiled widely.

“Now close your eyes!” Erika Pinta.

Valeray according. He closed his eyes and closed them with one hand. Erika held the other hand, pulling her towards the maple tree.

“Well, now open your eyes!” Erika had already let go of her armband and stood before Valeray.

Slowly Valeray opened his eyes. He looked at Erika with his big smile thrusting something at her. A bunch of white lily flowers. Erika wears her hairband to hold all the flowers together. His little hands looked a little dirty from the ground. Valeray knelt down, aligning his height with Erika.

“This is for you! From now on we're friends, Okay!!” Erika handed the bunch of flowers to Valeray. Valeray was surprised, but he gladly received the flower and held it.

“Thank you Princess! I'll take good care of him and won't let him wither.” Valeray is sincere. Just as she was about to get back up, Erika held both of her shoulders, forcing her to stay in place.

“Wait first! There is one more surprise for you!” Valeray looked curiously while Erika took something from behind the tree.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!” Shouted Erika suddenly, while scattering small pieces of maple leaves to Valeray.

Erika placed a crown made of several maple leaves held together with a piece of twig on Valeray's head and excitedly clapped her hands while singing a happy birthday song.

“And here's a gift for you!” Erika pulls Valeray's hand, puts something in there. A bracelet made of small shells of various colors.

Valeray surprised. He forgot that today was his birthday. He looked at the bracelet that adorned his hand. Valeray recognized the shells. The shells are Erika's favorite objects. He remembered Erika picking it up while he was walking on the beach a few months ago.

Valeray doesn't know what to do. He was too surprised. He's happy. She is so grateful to work for the MacGlory family who treated her like a family. Especially Alexander and his sister, Erika.

Valeray still did not react until Erika hugged him and said, “I love you so much, Ray!!” Erika said softly in her ear.

With teary eyes, Valeray hugged her back. “I love you very much too, Princess!”

The cold wind forced Valeray to open his eyes. He got up from his lean on the trunk of a maple tree, and saw that the sun was gone, returning to his quarrel. Apparently he fell asleep earlier. Valeray's disappointed. The dream was so beautiful, he didn't want to wake up from his dream. Dream about his memories with Erika 10 years ago. Valeray once again looked at the field of lilies sadly, before turning around and walking away, leaving his fond memories there.
