LUX OBSCURA, Story From Fantasy World
a reality

"No way!!" A deafening voice rang out as Lucya slammed her hands on the table.

"How can you make such a stupid policy, father! For generations, our kingdom has never done anything like this! You're telling me to fight with my own sister until one of us dies? Are you not sane?!" His voice was loud and full of anger.

With serious eyes and a loud voice, Lucya still could not believe her father's words. "Son, listen to me carefully. Dad didn't want to do this either, but this battle ceremony had to go. It will be a new tradition for our kingdom to choose who the next heir to the throne will be."

"Yes, I know that, but why fight to the death? Are you crazy?" Lucya sneered, her confusion and anger still felt strong.

An adviser to the king started whispering something to the King, trying to give a wiser look at the situation.

The father finally gave up. "Well, son, since you've reached 21, I'll tell you everything. There's no point in me keeping this secret to my own flesh and blood."

Then the father began to tell him everything about the agreement with the forbidden figure. The story made Lucya feel like she was drowning in despair.

"Father understands your feelings and natural reactions, but promise your father not to tell this to your sister. The battle ceremony will begin on your sister's 17th birthday, coinciding with the red moon eclipse. In the meantime, we will keep this fight a secret to the public. Of course there will be great internal turmoil if news about this fight has been spread. All this time, you were the most responsible and proficient at fighting. You are the first swordsman candidate who will protect this kingdom. Since you were born, your sword-wearing talent has been seen, even the chi energy within you is so great that you can easily manipulate the fire element. Father himself also did not want to see his two daughters die, but this pain, the suffering of this curse, made the father have to dare to see the blood of the father's own son."

Lucya's tears began to flow, and she couldn't hold back her emotions. "No. No. gabe. There must be another way! Let me meet that forbidden figure in person! Maybe we can try another negotiation?!"

"Alright, Lucya. There are things you have to do" said the father, grabbing his daughter's shoulder. "Prepare mentally and resolve."

The two of them left Lucy alone in the park. Lucy gets angry and slams the table. "How could this happen? Shit!"

Lucya who was confused by all the information her father gave began to find out more about the forbidden figure. He spent hours in the royal library, reading old books and digging up the family records left behind.

Often, Lucya vented her frustration in unusual ways. He went to the king's training ground, manipulated the flames in his hands into hot balls, then threw them at targets made of large stones. Each fireball that hit the target caused rock fragments to fly in all directions.

In the silence of the night, Lucya sat by the window of her room, staring at the star-filled sky. In the darkness, he pondered about his tragic destiny, about the upcoming battle ceremony. He was scared, angry, and confused.

His mind swirled about the mixed feelings that haunted him. On one hand, she loved her sister, Elysia, with all her heart. They grow up together, share secrets, and have sweet memories together. However, on the other hand, he knew that he would have to kill Elysia in a later fight.

Lucya has no idea how she can balance her feelings of love for her sister with the terrible reality she faces. His heart was split open, and he felt like a criminal even before the fight started.

He grabbed the small ball of fire that revolved in his hand and tremblingly threw it into the sky. The flame floated high before fading into flashing stars in the dark night. Lucya knows that she must find a way to understand her complicated feelings and overcome the inevitable test in front of her.
