Practicums

When practice is done to prove theory.

The data are arranged in such a way

To produce a theory.

Which theory is gathered from facts and data.

Theories that will evolve along with practice and research.

A white coat perched on the body of every student.

There is pride in itself.

Today is the first practice in

campus for Vivi.

Laboran explains the rules during practicum.

The laborers are a man.

"Well, welcome to the lab, you will practice with me, you call me akang, you will,, because I am also not a father and also I am an alumni of the department which means your brother, your level,,

"iyaa kaaangngngngngngngngg" we answered in unison

"The "rules in this laboratory are:

"First you must arrive on time".

"Both have written journals".

"Three wear a complete PPE, namely a suit, shoes, hair tied to the non-hooded, wearing a mask".

"Fourth brings a washcloth, a brush".

"The five wrote down the equipment and used all kinds of tools and materials in the book that had been provided".

"Six does not carger hp.

"The seventh did not eat or drink in the lab"

"Eighth should tidy up the tools and waste materials in the original place"

"The nine labs must be clean when they leave the room".

"Ten don't come home before lab work is done, everyone goes home together. got it?"

"Ready understand, compact answer"

"Something asked?"

One of the students showed their hands

"I want to ask kang, why would I want to be a laborer here?"

"Because I am in love with this major" he replied with a friendly face

"Yes there is an addition, you must collect a group report a week after practicum activities, if you break/damage the goods means to buy, because you have to replace the goods according to the broken/damaged goods."

Akang laboran.

"If you are late then you must follow-up practicum and make an individual report" added akang laboran.

"Hopefully I didn't break the item, because I'm a pretty sloppy person" Vivi murmured inwardly.

"Don't let me be too bad" Vivi muttered back in her heart.

"Well we start today's activities with do'a, said akang laboran.

All students including laboran berdo'a with solemn.

"Done, you have a group?" tanya Labora's

"Have" answered simultaneously.

Because indeed in the day before the practicum activity began has been divided into five groups.

"You guys gather in groups, stand behind a table" Laboran said.

Everyone gathers with their own group.

"We will do a practicum of five subtitles, one group does one subtitle, at the end of the practice will be presented in front of the results of the practicum of each group, in the report you must list the practice of the whole group" akang laboran.

"Please prepare tools and materials, tools and materials can be seen from the writing listed outside the closet"

"All the practicalities of preparing tools and materials".

"Each post will contain five groups so each group will know the whole practice today" Laboran said.

"I'm at the post one yaa", Vivi volunteered by raising her hand.

"Because I want to be first and foremost, hehe" muttered Vivi.

Practicum this time is about cooling and freezing with vegetable ingredients.

Vegetables used in practice are carrots, tomatoes, chickpeas.

The treatment used is at various temperatures. First the vegetables are peeled then washed and then cut into pieces then in blanshing that is the vegetables are put into boiling water for 15 seconds then drained. Next is inserted into the plastic wrap, where there are two treatments that are given air by giving a hole in the plastic part, inserted directly on the plastic without being given a helper, then observed for one week, and then observed for one week,, checking is done every day

at the break time.

"Gais do not forget to check vegetables in the lab" said one student.

"Ah yes, almost forgot" I was reminded.

"Yes I forgot instead" said another student.

"Representative check yaa" said the student.

"You check!" the orders of one of the other groups.

"I'm the one who checked" Vivi volunteered.

Each group representative checks the results of the practicum every day and on the last day of the next practicum, each group gives the results, and,,

At the end of the park activity, the practitioners/students wash the equipment that has been used and return it to its original place.

"Now the group of one yaa picket to clean the lab floor, will take turns" orders akang laboran with his friendly face while showing his white teeth.

Akang Laboran is a type of person who is cheap to smile, friendly and kind

the students are quite familiar with him.

After completion of the laboratory check the practitioners by being absent one by one to ensure that no students go home first.

The students are still complete, which may be among us dare to go home first anyway is still early and also do not want to if you have to work on the report alone.

Closed with do'a

"You be careful, thank you" said the laboran.

"Yes first, be careful too" the students rushed home.

Explanation of cooling and freezing.

Cooling or refrigeration is storage with the average temperature used still above the freezing point of the material. The temperature range used is usually between – 1oC to + 4oC. At that temperature, bacterial growth and biochemical processes will be inhibited.

Cooling will usually preserve food for several days or weeks, depending on the type of food. Cooling is usually done in households is in the refrigerator which has a temperature of –2 degrees Celsius to + 16 degrees Celsius.

Freezing or freezing is storage below the freezing point of the material, so the material is stored in a frozen state. Good freezing can be done at a temperature of approximately –17 degrees Celsius or lower. At this temperature the growth of bacteria completely stops.

Good freezing is usually done at temperatures between – 12 degrees C to – 24 degrees C. With freezing, the material will last for months, sometimes even years.

The difference between cooling and freezing also has to do with microbial activity.

Most destructive organisms grow rapidly at temperatures above 10 degrees C. Some types of toxic-forming organisms can still live at temperatures of about 3.3 degrees C.

Psychrophilic organisms grow slowly at temperatures of 4.4 degrees C to – 9.4 degrees C

This organism does not cause poisoning or cause disease at such temperatures, but at temperatures lower than – 4.0 degrees C will cause damage to food.

The number of microbes present in a refrigerated or frozen product depends largely on the handling or treatments given before the product is cooled or frozen, because in fact many microbes come from raw materials/raw materials.

Any food that is to be cooled or frozen needs to get preliminary treatments such as cleaning, blanching, or sterilization, so that the microbes contained in the material can be slightly reduced or disturbed metabolic balance.
