The New Student Welcoming Ceremony and Opening of OPSPEK in '95 have just been completed. About 2 hours we did the opening ceremony in the middle courtyard of the campus. After that, we were reassembled in the Multipurpose Building to be further divided by group. One group consists of 10 people. After the grouping, we were given a break of about 10 minutes.
"Rimin.. Curryan.." Sayup I heard someone call my name. I look for who is calling me. Two people who are no strangers to me. My High School friend, but different class. Nuni and Sari. I smiled broadly. Aahh, finally there are also friends I know besides Budi.
I also walked over to them. One hand held the hat caping peasant, an attribute we had to wear during the outlook. A bag of burlap sacks was tucked in my body, a tie of red and white ribbon. Long hair on my back that I have taken care of since a long time ago, I was forced to relax trimmed to the shoulder. Mom said not to bother to pigtail it later every morning. Hair in pigtails 3, red, yellow and green with ribbon lengths of 75 cm each.
Ribbon tape is installed in each pigtail with the rule must be 3 times made the shape of the ribbon on one pigtail. Be the hair of the participants of the festive female outlook with the ribbon tape.
"Hi Riin, meet us here too. How can we not meet during the announcement yesterday yes," said Nuni with a big smile. Sari next to him just smiled a little. Nuni and Sari, my old friends at High School but different classes. Nuni in Physics class 2, Sari Physics class 1 while I was in Physics class 3. Nuni is a friendly child, a little calm but if you are familiar, he is also excited.
Sari is a calm and quiet child. When I met him, I smiled the most. I rarely see Sari laughing. Especially until the bahak. Sari is slim, tall and white. Sari comes from the Sundanese tribe. His hair was black, straight and long. He's always unsightly. Nuni was fatter. Her hair is shoulder-length. Nuni and Sari live close together, away from the campus location. About two hours drive if using public transportation.
"Hai Nun, Sar" I said, smiling and greeting the two.
"Yes, why didn't we meet yesterday, I came here as beautiful and Riana. They also graduated" I said again.
We walked out of the building, looking for a bench to sit on. There are many benches lined up in the park near the multipurpose building. We also sat down, just unwind for a moment before the next event began.
"Riana was great, translucent on the State campus. Pinter him. It's beautiful, pinter too" Nuni said shortly after we sat down. Sari looks just smiling and then opens the lid of the drink bottle she brought. At that moment, the sun was shining very brightly. My drink without taste is only half left.
"What group did you get?" ask me again while tightly closing my bottle cap. "I'm in Galunggung's group" I said again.
"I'm with Nuni together in Papandayan, Rin" said Sari slowly. Sari's voice is slow and smooth, inversely proportional to Nuni who is slightly flattened. Nuni, nodding his head while eating the snacks he carried in the box of bright pink stock.
"That means we're not together, yes" I added.
"Consideration... Attention... Oppspect participants immediately gather again in the Hall. The break is over!" there was the sound of a committee with loudspeakers. We also rushed to put the container of supplies and drinks into our respective gunny sack bags.
"Come, the oppspek participants gather. In the tenth count must be lined up neatly according to their respective groups. One. two. three.."
Immediately the participants of the outlook ran into the hall. We are looking for our respective senior group mentors. I'm looking for where Brother Sri, my senior group guide is. Sister Sri, senior class of '92, petite woman. It's a little hard to find. Finally I found Brother Sri who was then up to a chair and waved his hand. Thankfully, Sister Sri had the initiative to get on the chair, so we could easily find her.
"Seven.. eight... nine...!" count Joko's brother with his loudspeaker.
"Se.. pu.. luuuuuhh..!" shouted again.
Most of us are in their own group. There were some who still could not find the group. Some had also just entered the hall.
"Who is late to enter, please stand in front. Don't go into the ranks of the group." shouted Joko's brother again. About 10 Opps were late and had to stand in front. I can only shake my head when I see Budi in that line. "Budi Basar lelet.." I muttered slowly.
Those who entered late, finally had to be punished running around the field 10 rounds and push up 20 times. It was as if the sweat was pouring out after they had finished serving the sentence. For male participants, the punishment may not be much. But for female participants...
Without feeling, time went dusk. Exactly at 17.00 WIB, the first day of the OPSEK event was ended. Each of the OPSEK participants looked tired, although the agenda of the first day was relatively lighter than the agenda of the next five days.
In our book, there is already a record of the tasks we must fulfill for tomorrow. The task that we thought was very strange, so we looked at each other, when we had recorded the task. A task that, when thought of, is hard to fulfill.
We are still gathering per group, after the event is dissolved, to discuss the task for tomorrow. After performing the maghrib prayer, we left the campus area. There are those who go straight home, some are together looking for objects for the task the next day.
Me and my group of friends finally came home after we discussed about the things we should bring tomorrow.
Thank God, today has passed without a hitch. It feels so tired. Tired but happy. Tired because of the busy schedule, happy because many get acquainted with new friends who come from outside Jakarta. Many are also from outside Java. Getting to know new friends, so a moodbooster for me.
Day went by night. Me and Budi went home. Not far from the campus, Emi, Iwan and Ali were waiting for us. The five of us went home, the sweat that flooded in the afternoon, was dry and sticky on the body. I can't wait to get home and take a shower.. Good night to the world...
