Cherry believes that David only wants to provoke his relationship with Freddy

David smiled and said

" We don't know how we're going to die, 'If you die in my hands, I promise I'll take good care of Cherry!" David said arrogantly

" You're a stupid man, when you're being arrogant, that's when you've shown your defeat!" Said Freddy

" I won't lose again!" David said with conviction

Freddy just smiled wryly
