Valerie Dominguez carried all the used sheets and blankets from every room in the hotel in a large trolley and pushed them towards the laundry room.
Just being the son of a florist with education only up to the elementary school level makes it only able to get a job as a room girl in a five-star hotel where she works.
"Valerie, your work time is running out, are you going straight home?" ask Eliza the friend. They were both poor girls who used to look for extra income by doing anything after their tasks were done.
"Hum, yeah. I thought I was going home to see my mom. I miss her so much." replied the girl as she reassembled the sheets and blankets into special shelves.
"Is your mother healthy Val, I heard she's not well?" Valerie Dominguez was silent. His activity of folding clothes he stopped for a moment. Tears suddenly burst out of his eyes.
"My mom is still sick. And I hope she doesn't come out to sell flowers anymore, hicks," the girl can no longer hold back her grief. Until he sobbed to imagine his old mother was still selling flowers every day even though the cancer he suffered was already at a high stage.
"Please Val, maybe your mom just wants to comfort herself by doing her thing all along." Eliza grabbed the body of her best friend and patted her back softly.
"I know you must be strong Val, your mother too." Eliza shrank her tears and continued,
"Go back to your house. Your mother must be waiting for you."
"My working hours are still 2 hours away Liz, I'm afraid Mr. Frederic will be angry if I always skip like this."
"Just leave Val, I'll do your job here. Didn't you miss your mother so much?" Eliza kept forcing her best friend to leave.
"No Liz, I'm scared. It's been a while that Mr. Frederic found me leaving work," Valerie replied shaking her head violently. He was very afraid of the owner of this hotel who was famous for being very disciplined.
"Hey, sometimes if we miss someone too much, we're afraid something bad is going on with him, Val." Eliza kept persuading because she knew her best friend must be remembering her mother. Understand he and Valerie Dominguez have not come home for two days because they have to replace friends who are sick.
Valerie breathed heavily. That's right, he misses his mother a lot right now. For some reason, his feelings have been very messed up since. The incident of a knuckle that sucked the phone of a rich man and was a VVIP guest at the hotel made his feelings worse.
"All right, I'll go now. And I hope you can solve all this yourself, Liz."
"I'll make sure it happens baby, I'll do all this myself. Well, go quietly, and say my regards to Aunt Julia,"
"Thank you Liz, I'll go home then" Valerie Dominguez said, then immediately picked up her bag in the locker and replaced her work clothes with casual clothes.
As usual all employees had to go in and out of the hotel using a special door of a lowly servant like himself.
He began to wear the skull cap he used to wear when he was in winter like this. While rubbing his hands he came out of the room and accidentally met Frederick at the end of the hall.
"You deliberately want to truant Valerie again?" ask her with a hostile flat expression.
"Ah uh yes Sir. I have to go home now. My mom..."
"Every time I get you home prematurely, your mother is the one you always sell. You don't know how important people are to Hem's discipline?!"
"I'm sorry sir. I'll go back to work then." Valerie replied nervously.
"no need. You I fired and you can go home right now." Frederick heartlessly put out the fire words while giving a few dollars for the girl.
"Take and find a job you can do while looking after your mother."
"But Sir. I love this job."
"Go Valerie Dominguez. Your replacement has been queuing up ahead for a long time!" tell Frederick in his firm voice.
"Good Sir. Thank you so much for your kindness all this time." the girl shrank her tears then continued her steps by holding a few pieces of dollars in her pocket.
In this cold condition he tightened his jacket and pulled the skull that covered his head down. Only the ends of her hair are visible.
His little house in a narrow alley he tapped softly. I wish my mother would come to open the door.
"Mom, it's me Valerie. Open the door, mother." There was no answer until he repeatedly knocked on the door with a worried face.
"Mother.."
"Mother.."
A middle-aged woman who was a friend of her mother came to hug her who was leaning against the door while crying.
"Your mother was at Val Hospital, a policeman came to us and asked her family. We called you but we can't connect."
"What happened to auntie? my phone's broken so everyone might not be able to reach me." Valerie seemed very panicked by the news she heard.
"Your mother got hit by a car while out selling flowers this afternoon, Val."
"Oh My.." the girl scooped her face with a very fearful feeling. His mother's cancer was very severe and then coupled with the accident. He could not imagine the severity of the trials suffered by the old woman.
"I'll be there soon aunty" he said and immediately took off the middle-aged woman's embrace. He ran non-stop on that cold night. A passing four-wheeled vehicle almost hit him until he fell to the sidewalk.
"Oh Shit!" bradley Timothy shouted with a very annoyed face. I don't know what other misfortune he will get today until from morning until night he still gets into trouble.
By taking a deep breath, he tries to stimulate his brain to think positively and get out of his car to help the person who almost let hit by himself.
The man hopes that by doing good the problem will also be resolved.
"Miss, I'm sorry. If you get hurt I can take you to the hospital right now" he said with a note of concern. His hand was stretched out on Valerie Dominguez who appeared to be in great pain with a sprained leg.
"I can't stand, sir. My legs hurt a lot." The girl touched her feet and then grimaced.
"All right." Bradley took a deep breath and carried the girl into his car. He subconsciously looked at the face of the girl in his arms and felt like he remembered something.
"Are you the room girl that was at the hotel this morning?"
"And you are...?"
"Hey you just need a lot of money, right? and now it's crashing itself again to get money again?" Valerie Dominguez grimaced with the man's words. But not realizing he nodded because his mother was sick and certainly needed a lot of money.
"Well, I'll give you a lot of money as long as you want to carry my son."
Plaques
Valerie Dominguez subconsciously slapped the man in the face for never once intending to sell herself for money.
