Chapter 20's

When Rasullulah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and his troops reached near Safra\(a region near Badar\); he sent Basbas and Ady ibn Abi Zaghba to Badr.
The two were told to seek information about Abu Sufyan and his trading entourage. In other accounts it is mentioned that his Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and Abu Bakr Radhiyallahu anhu also came out for this purpose.
The two met someone old. The Prophet asked him about the Quraysh army. The old man was willing to answer as long as they both told him where they came from ? Both agree. The Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam asked him to tell you first.
And if the bearer of the Quraysh army is also honest, then they are now in this place and this. After finishing the story, the man asked: “Where are you two from?”
Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam replied: “We are from air”. Then the two left the old man who was still asking: “From the water ? Is it from Iraq ?.
In the afternoon, Nabi Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam sent Ali, Zubair, and Sa`d Bin Abi Waqqash Radhiyallahu anhum along with a group of other Companions to collect data about the enemy.
Around the well of Badr, the group found two men in charge of fetching water for the Meccan army. They brought these two men to the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam who was praying at that time. So they started to draw evidence from both.
These two men admitted that they were givers of drink to the Meccan army. However, the Companions did not trust them. The Companions thought the two were Abu Sufyan's men. Then they beat them both to confess that they were Abu Sufyan's men.
When the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam finished praying, he Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam reminded his Companions, because they had struck both of them while being honest and allowed them to lie.
Then the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam asked the two about the position of the Meccan army. They replied: “They are behind the hill in Udwatul Qushwa.” Then he asked about the number of Meccans.
However, these two men could not name the exact number, but both mentioned the number of camels they slaughtered each day, which was between 9 and 10. From this, the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam concluded that their number was between 900 – 1000 troops.
These two men also mentioned that among the troops there were several figures of Mecca. In the book of Rahiqul Makhtum mentioned, He asked these two men, “Who are the leaders of Quraysh who participated?” They replied, “Utbah and Syaibah,
both were sons of Rabbiah, Abul Bakhtari ibn Hisham, Hakim ibn Hezam, Naufal ibn Khuwailid, al\-Harith ibn Amir, Thamah ibn Adi, an\-Nadhr ibn Harith, Zamah ibn al-Aswad, and others, Abu Jahl ibn Hisham, Umayyad ibn Khalaf and others.”
Rasululllah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said to his Companions: “Mecca has cast her characters before you.”
Then He Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam showed some places that will be the place of death of some figures of Quraysh. That night Allah Azza wa Jalla sent down rain to purify the Muslims and set their feet on the earth. Allah Azza wa Jalla made the rain a great disaster for the Muslims.
Allah Azza wa Jalla said :
وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ بِهِ وَيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمْ رِجْزَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَلِيَرْبِطَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِ الْأَقْدَامَ
And Allah sends down rain from the heavens to cleanse you with the rain and remove from you the disturbances of Satan and to strengthen your hearts and strengthen your feet with it (you).al 8:11.
Among the blessings of Allah Azza wa Jalla to the Muslims at that time was Allah Azza wa Jalla making the Companions sleepy as peacekeepers of the soul.
The Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam brought his army near the spring of Badr before the polytheists so that the enemy could not control the spring.
When Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam has determined one position, al-Habab bin Mundzir Radhiyallahu anhu issued his opinion,
“Wahai Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam , how do you think about this position ? Is this position revealed by Allah Azza wa Jalla so that we cannot go forward or back ? Or is this just an opinion, a tactic and a war point just”?.
He answered:
“It's just opinions, tactics and tactics of war only.”
al-Habab Radhiyallahu anhu said: “O Prophet, this position is not right, take these people to the well closest to the enemy position.We control the well and then the others we damaged. We make a big lake and then we fill the water. Then we fight them, we can drink while they can't.”
Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said to al-Habab Radhiyallahu anhu “You have given a clear opinion."
The Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam agreed and did so. When it has mastered the place indicated by al-Habbab, Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam was made `arisy (tent) by the Companions as his place Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bermunagat to Allah Azza wa Jalla and monitor the course of the war.
From some nash about the war Badr it can be understood that the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam participated in the war. He was neither constantly in his tent nor constantly praying.
Among the stories that prove it is the words of Ali Radhiyallahu anhu, “I noticed ourselves at the time of Badr. At that time, we took refuge with the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam . He is the closest person to the enemy and the hardest person.”
In another story told, “When the war was raging, we took refuge with the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam . He is the one who suffers the most. No one is closer to the polytheists than the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam".
Among the proofs too, he said Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam to his Companions during the Battle of Badr, “Never let any one of you come forward to anything, until I was near something it.”.
Ibn Katsir said, “He has fought in earnest. So did Abu Bakr Radhiyallahu anhu. As the two fought in the tent with berto’a, they also came out, providing motivation to fight and they also fought with physical.”
After doing all the physical preparations that allow to realize victory on the field, that night he beradarru` (please) to Allah Azza wa Jalla to help him.
Among the prayers that he said were: ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇
Allah Azza wa Jalla, fulfill Your promise to me. O Allah Azza wa Jalla, give me what You promised me. O Allah Azza wa Jalla, if You destroy this army of Islam, then no one will worship You on this earth. [SV. Muslim 3/1384 hadith no 1763].
In this history it is also mentioned that he Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam continued to worship his Lord until his shawl fell from his shoulder.
Abu Bakr Radhiyallahu anhu came and took the shawl and put it back on his shoulder. Abu Bakr Radhiyallahu anhu said,
“O Prophet Allah Azza wa Jalla, it is enough for you to honor your Lord and Allah Azza wa Jalla will surely fulfill His promise.”.
Then came the word of Allah Azza wa Jalla :
إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَاسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ أَنِّي مُمِدُّكُمْ بِأَلْفٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مُرْدِفِينَ “
(Remember) When you ask your Lord for help, He will let you do it :
“Verily I will bring you reinforcements with a thousand Angels coming in a row”.[al-Anfal/8:9].
After that Abu Bakr Radhiyallahu anhu held his hand and said, “Enough O Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, you have repeatedly pleaded with Rabbmu”.
Then the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam immediately took the armor and plunged into the battlefield while reading the word of Allah Azza wa Jalla :
سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ “
The faction will definitely be defeated and they will retreat to the rear”. [al-Qamar 54 :45]
Ibn Abi Hatim narrates that when this verse comes down, Umar Radhiyallahu anhu said, “Which will be defeated? And what group will be won?”.
Umar bin Khattab Radhiyallahu anhu continued, “When the battle of Badr I saw the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam lunging at the enemy with his armor, saying this verse. At that time I knew I meant this verse.”
