Chp.8 Deceptive intent

Daniel did not expect a child like Xernathan to dare to refuse his offer.

'Cihh. I'm not even sure this little boy understands how much gold pieces I mentioned are worth.' Daniel snorted resentfully cursing in his heart.

Daniel is seen surrounding the moose monster's body pieces while putting his hands on his chin and thinking. Daniel flinched and thought of a devious idea as he looked at the broad chest of a deer as if it had been hit by a prick.

'It looks like this deer died with just one small prick..' Daniel thought cunningly in his heart.

"If that's what you want I'll buy this whole monster for ninety pieces of gold, how about it?" Daniel grinned cunningly when he had checked the entire body of the deer monster.

The people in that place were shocked.

"I appreciate it a little higher because I know your struggle to get this deer with great difficulty, let alone you alone"

Daniel showed his best smile.

"In my place of origin alone which is a very large land consisting of many large cities and has resources that can be bought easily, he said,

I rarely meet a child as talented as you is Xernathan.

Seeing you do this alone I remember my son. I've left her a long time, I think I need to be kind to you, I feel you're like my son."

Xernathan caught another max from the face of the middle-aged man who kept boasting before him. Xernathan grinned more cunningly in his heart intending to give the man a trick first.

"Do you really want to pay such a high price? Did you know the age and condition of this monster?"

Daniel laughed softly as he nodded.

"At my place of origin many people are learning Qi on the grounds of extending their lifespan" the man explained.

"Do you know what Qi is?" Whisper Daniel slowly.

Xernathan answered that with a nod, in fact he was astonished, Daniel did not question how a child as small as Xernathan knew what Qi was. He simply continued his explanation of how to know the age and bone quality of a monster as well as a human.

"By draining the energy in and feeling the circumference of his life, you can know the age of the bones and the quality of the bones of monsters or people you touch." Daniel explains enthusiastically. Without him realizing thanks to himself Xernathan so have a new knowledge.

'Damn why I just found out that fact from this fat man..' Xernathan swore in his heart. Knowing the way Daniel mentioned would not be difficult when he could already use Qi but such a way was unthinkable to him before.

Xernathan felt no stranger to the man's earlier statements. He knew there was indeed a place out there that had the wealth to allow its inhabitants to master Qi for medical purposes.

Not quite satisfied with his curiosity Xernathan asked about the origin of the city of the fat man before him. The man answered by pointing to the east and naming a region. "I live far to the east there. I live in one of the most vast areas of land in a place called Hydra's territory."

The little boy became convinced by the previous estimate. Right territory he maxed out.

But a new question came to his mind.

Xernathan bent an eyebrow. "But why doesn't this Daniel sir have narrow eyes like the one from Hydra?"

Xernathan knows the place. In his first life Xernathan had a few people who were very important to his life who came from the place the man mentioned.

"You know Hydra's territory?" Daniel choked on his breath as Xernathan asked that.

"You have a broad insight as it turns out"

He thought that the little boy before him would ask about where and what the Hydra region looked like, in fact Xernathan asked the real thing that no one else knew about the land.

The Hydra region was very far to the east in the country where they were, Centuri state. Cyclops Island itself is the last island located at the southernmost end of the Centuri country map.

No wonder other people know or have heard the name of the Hydra region but rarely know that the natives of Hydra island are white-eyed people.

Daniel continued to ask when Xernathan did not answer questions about where he knew about Hydra's territory.

"You're definitely not a native of this island either, are you?" Daniel smiled as he asked.

Xernathan nodded, indeed he was not a native of the Cyclops island. He has mixed blood from his father.

"I am also not a native of that region, but I am indeed from the Hydra region."

A woman in her twenties approached the two people who were talking.

His arrival broke the momentary silence between Xernathan and the fat man before him. The woman immediately received the attention of both.

"Sir Lexi.." Xernathan greeted the woman for the first time.

"Your arrest this time was amazing, Nathan." The woman named Lexi returned Xernathan's greeting with a statement full of shock and praise.

Xernathan just laughed while scratching his head that did not itch at the startled reaction to all the times from people.

"Well you just call me what number do you want for this monster?"

"Ohya before, did you know how old this monster before me is?" Lexi asked once more while holding a pen and was seen crossing something on the paper.

Lexi checked the deer monster's body and took out a bit of the stag bone-scratched powder and she put it in a bone age-counting device.

"Senior Lexi.. huhh how do I explain it?" Xernathan had a little trouble explaining.

"I've been counting and I can pay with a price.." Lexi spoke as she had scribbled something on her paper but suddenly she said a number, her words cut by Daniel's voice.

"Hey.you don't precede me I've bought this monster with ninety gold pieces." Xernathan had not yet said to give an answer, Daniel cut first with his explanation.

"eek.. Sir you appreciate twenty-five pieces more than the price." Lexi explained in surprise.

Daniel seems silent for a moment composing a sentence to give Lexi the most reasonable answer.

"I was a merchant and a sailor, before arriving at this place I stopped by and was in several cities selling monster resources like this at a high price.

I'm sure if I return to those cities after coming back from this island I'll be able to sell them at a higher price.

And also I'm interested in seeing the antlers and fangs of these deer monsters, I will cultivate and sell them as spear eyes and also swords." Daniel racked his brain to give a reasonable reason.

Xernathan who from the beginning caught another max from Daniel increasingly grinned widely in the heart. The boy realized the foul intent behind the plain face of the fat man before him.

'Keep the fat man.. '

Lexi let out a long sigh, before she was at work and hurried home because she heard the little boy in front of her getting a new hunt.

But he did not think this was the umpteenth time he was late in getting monster resources from the little boy.

"Sorry Brother, I sold my quarry at the highest price.." Xernathan explained.

Lexi nodded, as a banker managing finances. The woman understood the difference in the value of twenty-five gold pieces offered by the middle-aged man to Xernathan making the difference figure very far from the price that Lexi will offer.

Although Lexi was the custodian of Xernathan's subscription for over a year, Lexi was also aware that business was business.

He could only hope that the thick-bodied man before him would not be long on the Cyclops island. Or he would lose his side livelihood as a monster resource crammer.
