"So, you want to take half your salary?" renan asked after his last mouthful. Vani nodded in doubt, while Bik Minah had already left to continue her work again.
"Well, I'll finish first." Grab a glass of water, then gulp it slowly.
Renan stepped away from the dining table leaving behind an empty plate that had been filled. Stepping into his private room, Renan took out a few pieces of money, then put them in a white envelope.
Renan intends to hand over a white envelope containing Vani's payday in his office. In addition to taking things first, Renan is also afraid that later Vani will be embarrassed if he hands the money in front of Bik Minah directly. Therefore Renan only advised Bik Minah to call Vani to his office.
"Let's make some coffee, Bik!" Renan felt extreme sleepiness, probably because last night he had difficulty closing his eyes because of Vani's constant shadow haunting him.
Bik Minah nodded in agreement with the request of the employer. The middle-aged woman continued to step into the kitchen, all looking for where Vani was.
"Neng Vani is waiting for you in his room." Bik Minah's voice made Vani stop her activities. The woman turned her head and found Bik Minah standing in the doorway to the back garden, where she cleaned the dry leaves.
"Eh, yes, Bik." Hurriedly Vani put down the broom she was holding and immediately stepped inside.
The second floor is Vani's destination. The work space of his employer is quite large. Inside there are neatly lined shelves, where various kinds of books that do not know what the contents are.
In another corner there are also some medical equipment owned by the man, which Renan deliberately stored if at any time needed if he was at home. Every day Vani always cleaned it when the man had gone to work. But, at this time the man was in there, Vani became awkward himself. But he hasn't stepped in yet.
Vani pushed the door open slightly after knocking it a few times. Instantly the nervousness began to bully him. Especially when looking for where the existence of the man who has not been caught by his sense of sight.
"Where is Uncle Ren? He said he told me to stay here." Vani whispered to herself remembering Bik Minah's words earlier.
Stepping slowly, his two eyes swept across the entire room. Vani is always amazed at the neatly lined books that are there. Too focused, so he did not notice if there were some books that were about to fall and ready to hit him.
Bruckk!
Renan hugged Vani's body to protect the woman from the things that were about to happen to him. But he himself was willing to sacrifice himself.
"Are you okay, Van?"
Vani is surprised instead of playing by his employer's sudden action. Then, he only realized when a sound of objects falling right at his feet.
"Sir Ren ....! You're okay, right?" Now replace the panicked Vani. If only he had been careful, maybe this bad event would never have happened to him.
Both of them are still in position, Renan slightly hugged Vani's body and protected his head, along with the door of the room opened perfectly.
"Why father?!" Bi Minah's voice broke the silence in Renan's office. While the drink in his hand was allowed to break just touching the floor. Vani hastily breaks away feeling embarrassed, as well as Renan, they both look awkward.
"I'm sorry, Van, I didn't mean it. You're okay, right?" ask the man. Bi Minah was cleaning the glass shards earlier, while Vani was still misbehaving himself.
Renan touched it. Right, it turns out his head was bleeding by the wound caused by the pile of books earlier. "It's okay, Van. It's just a little."
"Sirred father?" Now change the sound Bik Minah heard. The woman had finished cleaning the glass. Choosing to undo his intention to leave immediately, Bik Minah approached the employer.
"I'm okay, Bik. It's just a small wound" Renan explained.
"But it's a danger, sir, if you let it!" Own anxiety. The man in front was acting ordinary. "Let me take medicine first?"
Bik Minah already considers Renan like his own family. For Renan, Bik Minah is a surrogate parent whom he respects like his biological parents.
"Yes." Yeah."
Finally resigned as the old hand began to clean the wound and wrap it with a bandage. As for Vani, the woman felt bad for herself because indirectly she was the cause of her employer's injuries like this.
"I'm sorry, sir. Because I'm Mr. Ren so like this," said Vani with guilt. Since then Vani just lowered his head, not daring to raise his head at all even when Bik Minah forced to treat the man's wounds.
"It's not your fault, Van. Perhaps the arrangement of the books on the shelf was less neat, eventually falling. Thankfully, it didn't hit you." Renan smiled back at Vani. It was as if he had no regrets at all to save her.
"But, Mr. Ren's head was wounded. I'm really sorry."
Vani still feels guilty even though Renan does not bother about it. The man actually felt grateful that the book had not hit Vani's head. Renan could not imagine if it happened, maybe he would be blamed by the husband of the woman. And finally Vani will not be allowed to work in his home anymore.
But, wait ...What did Vani call it, Mr Ren?
"Udah, Neng, it's not Neng Vani's fault, really. Later Bibik's husband let it actually be his shelf, let's not hit anyone again." Bik Minah also tried to comfort Vani so as not to constantly feel guilty.
Finally Bik Minah left the room leaving Renan and Vani alone. Renan was forced to abandon his intention to go to the hospital because the incident had injured his head.
"So, you really want to take your salary now?" asked Renan then.Vani looked up, staring at the man's brownish eye bead.
"Yes, sir, I want to take half my salary now."
Then Vani saw Mr. Renan take out a white envelope from his desk drawer. "This is your salary this month." Leaning towards Vani.
"But, sir, I only asked for half?" The white envelope Vani left lying in front of him. Vani thinks if all the salaries are taken now, then if there is an urgent need again how?
"Take it, Van, later if there is an urgent need to say it. Don't be shy."
