FEMALE WARRIORS

FEMALE WARRIORS
CHAPTRE. 7

{ Still Author's POV }

Zelda stepped back, but the Crown Prince held her arm tightly and held her back.

"What's the matter exactly? Yesterday you threw yourself into the river just because you didn't want our engagement to be broken. But now? You want to cancel it?" There was a furious tone from the Crown Prince.

"Aren't you supposed to be happy if I voluntarily want to cancel this engagement? Since when do you care about this?" Said Zelda in a cold tone.

Somehow the Crown Prince did not accept Zelda's drastic changes.

"No. Our engagement can't be canceled." The Crown Prince emphasized his sentence.

"Have you not always rejected me and been uncomfortable with my presence around you? It is better to cancel it. Many more beautiful and kind noble daughters would certainly be with you." Zelda replied with a firm tone.

The Crown Prince still did not accept. "Why did you suddenly change? Is the rumor you lost your memory true?"

Zelda looked into the Crown Prince's eyes deeply. "Yes, I have lost my memory. But I am grateful, at least I do not remember that I once begged love for you like a slave of love. Now please let me go."

The Crown Prince returned Zelda's gaze sharply. "No. You can't cancel our engagement unilaterally. Only I can. Today's conversation is over."

The Crown Prince stepped his foot out of the living room, but was restrained upon hearing the sentence from Zelda.

"So only you can cancel this engagement? What a ridiculous statement that is. I'd rather live without an arrogant man like you. I'm sorry to come here and meet you, Your Highness the Crown Prince. I'm retiring." Zelda passed the Crown Prince without even seeing him in the slightest.

The Crown Prince stared at Zelda's departure with raging emotions.

{ Back to Zelda POV }

After returning from the royal palace, I immediately returned to my home. Today, my mood is devastated.

If I recall what happened a few hours ago, it feels like I really want to kick the crown prince and also want to shout harsh words in front of the Crown Prince's face.

How could he speak so selfishly?

I don't like unstable men.

In my previous life, I only thought about how to enrich myself. I don't need a man. Can love fill my stomach?

As long as I can stand on my own feet and support myself. Why am I tired of chasing the love of someone I just met?

I entered the house with impatient steps.

"Where's dad?" I asked one of the guards inside the house.

"Great master is in his study." Answer the guard.

Good, I want to resolve the matter of engagement with the Crown Prince immediately. If it is not resolved now, it will definitely cause new problems later on.

Tok.dok..

"Lake in!" There was a loud voice from inside the room.

I opened the door slowly.

Dad was surprised to see me suddenly enter his study.

"Zelda's? Tumben once you came to Dad's office."

I'm sitting at my desk, "Dad I have something to say and it's important." I put on a serious face.

"I want to cancel my engagement to the Crown Prince." I said firmly.

My body seemed to freeze for a few seconds. He looked at me in disbelief.

"You're kidding, aren't you?" I made sure to get back my words.

"Did my face show that I was joking?"

Father fell silent, "Didn't you love the Crown Prince so much? Even—" Dad didn't continue. Maybe he wants to talk about me drowning myself in the river because of the Crown Prince.

"Yes I know I drowned myself because of the Crown Prince. But that was my old self. My current self does not love the Crown Prince at all."

The face of my father seemed to think hard. "Dad can't grant your request, Zelda."

"Why?"

"In our country, women should not cancel the engagement. Only men can break the engagement."

I round my eyes in disbelief at the thing I just heard.

What kind of law is this? It reflects the Patriarchy!

"Is this a joke?" I laughed sarcastically.

"No. If you want to cancel the engagement, you'll get social sanctions. Especially if you're the Crown Prince's fiance." I looked at me seriously.

"What kind of sanctions do you mean?"

"You will be exiled and until the rest of your life, no other man can propose to you. You can't marry another man if you cancel the engagement to the Crown Prince."

I was silent to Dad's explanation.

I don't really care if I live without a man. But what if someday I want a child? Am I going to be lonely with the social sanctions? The people around me will demean me. God fucking.

I took a long breath. It's really complicated. I wish I could go back to my free modern world..

"If the Crown Prince were to cancel the engagement, would I still be able to get married?"

"could. But rarely does a man dare to approach the Crown Prince's former fiancee."

"Why?"

"No one dares to take the 'former' of the royal people."

I bite my nails slowly. It is very frustrating to live in this country. Should I run away and travel?

"Then father, what if I ask the Crown Prince to cancel his engagement and go on a trip somewhere else?"

Dad looked at me sharply. "Don't joke Zelda. I won't allow it. You're my only daughter!"

"But dad—"

"Even enough conversations today. Dad is busy. Go back to your room." Dad immediately reopened and was busy struggling with his documents.

Huff.. It's gonna be tough. How am I supposed to survive here?

What am I supposed to do to color my boring life here?
