Chapter 18
Clara waits for Megan at the restaurant where Megan works. It's still ten o'clock, so Clara used to browse for information on work. While accompanied by a glass of apple juice, Clara was so focused on staring at the screen of her phone.
"You shouldn't let your second daughter marry him."
"really it. Even if you don't get married, there's a right with Jou. So Chloe's gonna have a rich daughter-in-law."
Even so focused, Clara could hear the conversation of the mothers sitting on the bench behind her. Clara fell silent and put down her phone to ascertain who they were talking about.
"I also currently have a rich daughter-in-law" Tania said.
"Yes too."
"Eitherway! I don't care."
They all sound laughing. Clara who kept hearing, was surprised by the attitude of her mother who had to gossip so far.
Not long after the laughter stopped, Tania sighed. "But I still wish Chloe were married to Mr. Josh and Lily's son."
"Ah, the important thing is that their son still marries one of your daughters" said one mother with wavy hair. "Let Chloe chase her dreams first."
"You don't know, even though they're my daughters, I still have more hope for Chloe. You know how clara is so unruly about men."
Clara widened her eyes to hear the mother could speak so in front of the friends of Arisan.
"Why are you talking like that?" inner Clara. "Mother willingly used me in the back."
Not wanting to hear the painful chatter, Clara got up. He grabbed a bag and put his cell phone in and put on his sunglasses.
"Ouch!" cry Clara suddenly.
Clara accidentally bumped into a waiter who was carrying a tray filled with glasses. The incident suddenly made some visitors look towards Clara. Clara herself is currently looking panicked because her clothes are wet and afraid that her mother would know she was here.
"Ma-sorry, Mom. I didn't mean it" said Clara, helping the waiter.
The gaze of some people, made Clara keep trying to hide her face.
"It's okay, Miss. I'm the one who's not careful" said the waiter.
"I'll excuse you, then" said Clara. He walked quickly to the toilet.
"What is Clara?" tania Gumam.
Tania's words were heard by her three friends.
"I think she's Clara" said one of Tania's friends. "From the shape and shape of the hair anyway, similar." Another imbibing.
"Ah, definitely not. If she was Clara would have known that I was here too" Tania said.
Turning to Clara, she was currently cleaning up her skirt that had been spilled over by drinks. Not too much should be, but since the skirt she was wearing was brightly colored, the latte coffee stain was clearly visible.
"Mom's ways are you like this, right?" lamented Clara.
Although free, Clara tried to flick her skirt and a little rubbing with tissue available in the toilet.
"Mom can gossip about me in front of her friends. What does he think I am? So tega. I'm becoming more and more aware that all this time I've only loved Chloe."
No results and the skirt still looks dirty, Clara resigned. He left the toilet. While walking down the aisle to the road to the outside, it just so happened that Clara met Megan.
"Jeez Clara, it turns out you're here" Megan said with a sigh. "I thought you were home. I was looking for you outside."
"I'm sorry, I was taking the toilet for a while" explained Clara.
Megan saw the stains on Clara's skirt. "What's wrong with your skirt?"
Clara gave a rough sigh. "So spilled a drink. I accidentally bumped into a waiter."
Megan invites Clara to chat in the back room. Precisely in the warehouse storing drinks.
"You want to wear my skirt?" bargain Megan.
"I can wear my work clothes for a while."
"No need. I will be home soon too. My stomach is a little bad too. I'm coming by the moon."
"Ooh."
The two of them sat down for a while to talk about why Megan told him to come here.
"I'm sorry, you waited too long. I'm a little busy today" Megan said. "Today's more visitors than yesterday."
"It's okay. Em, by the way, did you ask me to come?"
"I got job information."
"Really?" Clara suddenly shines. "Where?"
"But it doesn't seem to be in your field at all! Far from your field. I'll just offer you first, the one you want."
"What, what?" Clara was so enthusiastic.
"I'm actually hesitant to offer you this." Megan grinned thinly while scratching her head.
"Why is that?"
"It's just an office girl job" Megan said.
"Ooh." With ease Clara rounded her lips. "No problem to me. If there's a job, I want it."
"But, um, you know, your husband's a rich man, doesn't it matter if you work as an office girl? That's too low I think seeing how you're in position right now."
Clara smiled thinly. "I am married to a rich man, but I am not fully considered a wife by him. I need money just in case Noah lets me go. I must have a stash to continue living."
Seeing how mother nature was behind, Clara was already reluctant to ask him for help. Even if you ask for help later, there are mothers who will only scold him and say "The child's base is useless!"
"If you're sure, you can come to this company." Megan put an address written on paper on the table.
"okay." Clara greeted him enthusiastically. "Thank you very much!" Clara gave a tight hug to Megan.
"Don't be too tight, I'll be out of breath."
"Oh sorry."
The two laughed before finally having to separate because Megan's rest hour was over. Clara also had to go home because she did not want to rain again.
Surprisingly, every morning always looks bright, but by noon, afternoon to night, more often cloudy and rainy.
Fresh out of the restaurant, Clara did not expect that her mother was still in the restaurant. In the restaurant yard. Maybe waiting for a taxi or a ride.
"Claras?"
"Mother?"
Both look surprised. Clara thought her mother had come home earlier, but she was still here and destined to meet.
"What are you doing here?" tanya Tania is haughty.
"Why is mother's tone like that? It's like you don't miss me" Clara said.
"For what mother misses you, you're living an epidemic now. You're not seeing mom and dad now."
The insinuations made Clara feel angry. However, Clara is not the type of woman who likes to be influenced by emotions let alone this in front of her own parents.
"I understand, Mom. What I've always missed is Chloe, my mother's favorite daughter who's always been proud of."
Clara said nothing but just left her mother.
