The cracked phone is now placed on the table. Three pairs of eyes were watching him with different expressions. Darren and Austin had almost the same expression. Flat. While Isabell grimaced, steady pity his favorite phone. His father gave him his cell phone when he decided to leave the palace and move to New York, his fiancee's country.
"So which one of you is going to change my phone?"
Isabell had to be smart with his money. He had to be independent, not wanting to trouble his adoptive family anymore. His salary was enough to meet his daily needs, including paying rent for an apartment. But, this year he plans to buy a car, so he will not interfere with his savings for things that are not urgent. After all, his phone was damaged because of the actions of the two men. It was only natural that he sued the two men.
"I don't think it's fair if you have to sue me for a deed that has nothing to do with me at all" Austin opened his voice as his fingers tapped on the table. He hands off, insisting that he has no share in the incident of a cracked cell phone.
Isabell clearly agreed with whatever Austin said. Her fiancee, love half her life. Isabell turned his gaze to Darren.
Darren rubbed his nose, then said, "You could have sued me, no problem."
Darren's vows, slurs and words have always been able to upset Isabell. He thought Darren was a nice guy, but it was just the opposite. Very very annoying.
Luckily handsome. If not, maybe I won't hesitate to douse his face with this cereal. Isabell praised Darren's good looks.
"I'll take responsibility if I'm guilty."
"Obviously you're guilty!"
"Where is my mistake?"
"There's at your gorilla's feet! Your leg broke my phone!"
"Did I do it on purpose?"
"Who knows someone's foul intentions."
Darren swooped down next to his brows, "It seems slandering is your forte, Miss Geo."
"Miss Geo?"
"Geonandes."
"You have to replace it."
"What if I sue you too."
"Whatchu mean? I don't have any faults."
"My sandal was scratched because of your phone." Darren opened his joints and sillyly placed them on the table. "The price is equivalent to your phone." He said in an understatement style.
"This rotten sandal..."
"But I wouldn't do such a shameful act by suing a family just because of a petty thing like this."
"family?"
"Yes, aren't you my sister's fiancee. Buy her a new phone, start pleasing your fiance." Darren advises Austin, and he stands up and leaves the kitchen.
"Today you work?" Austin asked after Darren was out of sight.
"Yes." Yeah."
"The shop is open every day."
"Oh."
"Yes, I have to prepare now if I don't want to be late." Isabell picked up his cell phone and looked at him with a parched face. There is no clarity about his phone. There was nothing he could really sue for actually admitting that this was purely his fault. How could he not realize his phone had fallen to the floor.
It's Austin's fault! It made me forget everything!
It's not Austin's fault. It's a rebuke because I've been disrespectful to the parents.
"Ishabell."
Austin's call undoes Isabell's intention to step foot.
"Yes." Yeah." Isabell smiled, showing off her fenced teeth. Austin refrained from sighing as his gaze fell on the braces.
Austin pondered for a moment. Last night he was told by his mother that Isabell would stay in their home from now on. That is, his family was serious so that he and Isabell married. When did his family get funny?
Austin tries to dig into his memories of how the engagement between himself and Isabell happened. Ck! He only answered the origin when his mother asked about his approval if betrothed to a very sweet girl. Yes, she remembers her mother saying Isabell was a sweet, beautiful and attractive girl without showing her pictures at all. Austin was 20 years old. Her testosterone hormone is fluttering again. Thinking about getting engaged, he can do a lot of crazy things without changing partners. Moreover, her mother called her prospective fiance sweet and beautiful.
Gaining her approval, her mother immediately contacted Isabell's family and informed them that they would fly there tomorrow and the engagement would be held immediately. Hearing that Isabell lived in the Palace made Austin imagine that Isabell was like a princess in a fairy tale. Graceful, maybe her mother forgot to say that.
Shocked, wanting to disappear into the earth, that was Austin's reaction when the woman who became his fiancee was confronted by him. Far from sweet, beautiful and elegant. Enraged, Austin remembered how angry and disappointed he had been that day. But, he had no choice but to follow the event well until it was over. It was impossible for him to humiliate his family in the presence of the crowd.
"You want to say something?" Isabell's voice returns Austin to the present.
"You sure you want to marry me?"
Isabell was stunned to hear Austin's unexpected question. The real question Isabell wanted to ask the man.
"W-how about you?"
"Eitherway. I'm not sure this is gonna work."
"Why are you saying that?" Isabell suppressed her heartache. Austin sounded like he was pushing and rejecting her.
"I don't know you very well and I'm not the kind of guy who would waste time trying to figure out what you like and don't like. And most importantly, you don't know me either."
"You sound like you're rejecting me." Isabell voiced what was in his mind.
"I just want us to think with common sense."
"Yes, I know women like me aren't the type of women you want."
"What do you know about the woman I want?"
"Of course I know. I always follow the media who give you the latest news about you. In this one week, you've even dated four different women. Everything looks the same, looks open with clothes that are less material. Isn't that the kind of woman that interests you?"
Austin chuckled, "It turns out you're an expert. I thought you were very irritable to talk."
"Just because I look cute?"
Austin shrugged both of his shoulders indifferently.
"Love, sex, passion, desire, longing, all those components must be in a relationship." Austin stood up from his chair then stood right in front of Isabell, staring at Isabell with a quick glance from top to bottom. "And none of those components are among us. So, why are we married? It's impossible to just play house-to-house, isn't it? Think of it."
