Corpse
The Wet Wall

I woke up at 3 a.m. It felt like my bones were coming off my body. Maybe it was because I slept too late and just got home from a long trip. I poured the ablution water into my face, so fresh it wiped away my drowsiness.

I chose to pray in my room. The room light I accidentally did not turn on because we prefer to sleep with the lights turned off.

"Bismillahhirohmanirrohim says. Usholli sunnatan tahajudi rak'ataini lillahi ta'alla. Allah Akbar.."

When I prayed with the third raka'at there was suddenly a sound.

"Hussssstttt.."

The voice was long shrill and was clearly heard in my ears. I didn't know it was a male or female voice that was clearly so loud that it made my ears become a repellent. A feeling of goosebumps spread throughout my body until I decided to close with the prayer witir. After praying I continue with dhikr. I guess with me thinking will make my feelings so calm and the distraction goes was not. My hair bristles from my shoulders to my back. Until at last I felt a strong grip on my shoulder. So hurt.

Then I decided to go to bed soon. My sleeping position is on my back with a pillow that I deliberately cover the front of my face. I deliberately did not cover half of my right face so I could breathe freely. Suddenly I saw movement from the right corner of the wall. I can't see clearly, what a creature it is. But the creature crawled up from the top of the wall creeping to the floor like a spider with a human form. Then I turned on the room light and couldn't sleep until 4 a.m.

Like most mothers at home, cleaning the house and cooking is the main thing. I shop for vegetables next door. Today I want to cook my son's favorite rendang jengkol and fried chicken. When I turned towards my house I saw two birds perched on two domes and sounded sad. In front of my house is a mushola.

"Who will die today? Astaghfirullah what the hell am I. It is only before God's destiny" I swear in my heart

I took my groceries out of plastic. As I cleaned the chicken came the sound of an announcement from the mushola.

"Innalillahi wa inna ili rojiun, has returned to the grace of Allah's mother, the mother of Pak utat. God willing, the body will be buried at 10 am" the voice of the leader of my village mosque.

"Innalillahi wa inna ili rojiun's. Astaghfirullahalladzim, why can it fit so well? Who will follow?" I said that way

I also sped up my cooking because I had to mourn.

"There's still 2 hours to cook" I said. I began to boil the jengkol and bring up the chicken. Fondled by making red seasoning for rendang jengkol.

"There's still half an hour to take a shower. Thankfully, my cooking was all cooked"

I opened the tap water to fill the bathtub. Then I left for a while to fill up the basin rice and sugar to take to the grieving house.

"Bu nur with ya, go to his house almh.

saidah ma'am, right?" I said to bu nur.

When I came out of the house and was locking the front door, I saw that my mother was also carrying a basin.

"Don't ma'am, we're almost too late for this" said bu nur

Arriving at the funeral home, we chatted with the family of the deceased. Then we took the bodies to TPU. Sadness is very much felt, the cloudy sky shows that nature is also sad.

The clock shows at 12 p.m. Shortly after the dzuhur adhan there was an announcement in the mushola. This time the one who died was a famous ustadz in my village called ustadz somad. He is about 58 years old. His body will be buried after the Ashar prayer.

I readied the baskoman to be brought later and prayed dzuhur first. After I finished praying, someone knocked on my door. Mr. Andi wants to borrow a table next to my house to bathe the body of alm. ustadz somad. I also agree and help move things on the table.

My stomach was rumbling because it had not been filled. I eat while watching television. Then I looked at a black shadow from the dining room towards the warehouse room. My television and dining room curtains were closed so I could eat well.

I also ate delicious until I finished 2 plates of rice. I haven't eaten in a long time with a little spicy jengkol. Then I watched television until the ashar adzan reverberated. I hurried to pray and prepared to pray.

By 5pm, my two children were home from school. They are very happy because today I cooked rendang jengkol.

"Gee.. Today mom's cooking is so fancy. Ehmm rendang jengkolnya very good mom. Not like a big brother's gatot. The jengkolnya is still hard" Ejek my second son

"You're this deck, never grateful for sister's cooking. Yaudah if mom goes again let you cook" my first son replied

Shortly after I finished eating, someone knocked back on the front door.

"Dec, open the door first. Brother wants to go to the bathroom"

"Yes my brother"

My son also opened the door, apparently it was the man who returned the table used last afternoon.

"Mom, what is the table used for?" ask my son

"Ohh it was used to bathe the body of alm. ustadz somad kak" I said

"What!" my son said at the same time

"Kok mom wants to lend us a table, ma'am. We often use it in our homes"

"The name please help it do not choose son" I said trying to explain to my two children

"If his spirit is near the table how is ma'am? it's scary hiii" said my second son

"There are no children dear mother" I said to dismiss my son's fear

What is said is actually true. Because the soul of the ustadz was sitting on that table.

Tonight is like yesterday. Scary. The sound of lizards back and forth rang out in our ears.

"Mom, I got goosebumps. What the hell is ma'am? You see something no?" Ask my son who is still busy working on school PR

"Indeed, son, there's someone pacing the street next door" I said casually. But not with the reaction of my two children they hugged my hand tightly.

"Mother likes to joke. Knew his son was scared even kept" pinch my son on my waist

"That's why you guys don't keep su'udzon. If you guys talk like that even really come" I said back

"Momuuu amakirtt." cried my son.

"If only you could see what I see, son. They know we're talking about. So the mother just chose to pretend not to see if anyone passed"

"learned already? Mother is already this sleepy" I said as I yawned

"If you want to sleep, I want to sleep too. I'm afraid you're studying here with only two sisters"

"Yes, we pray together" I said as I headed for the front door. I checked if the door was locked. Then we worship and pray together.

At midnight I woke up. I was shocked by the sound of the window knocking. The figure tried to get in but I've been fencing the occult before going to bed. The sound of the knocking got louder but only I could hear. Both my sons are still asleep in their sleep.

The knocking finally stopped after I recited the verse of the chair 7 times holding my breath and I exhaled towards the window. But before long I saw the wall next to the door, the wall was wet. The wall was wet at the bottom near the floor then the basin went up to the top until near the light switch. And I saw a big tall figure with a grey hair standing in front of that wall.

That night I used a night light. Until clearly seeing the figure.

Hi friends of author's loyal readers, thank you for taking the time to read. You need to know that this novel is actually my own fantasy. But for the "Sarti" character in this novel, being able to see and communicate with spirits is a true story. In every episode of the supernatural creatures that disturb the sarti it really happens. The author himself cannot see the supernatural but the author's mother and sister can communicate. So hope the story is less horror.

Do not read late at night, fear that someone will accompany you next door. Hiii. Don't forget to read the author's only novel, "What love hurts this much". Keep supporting author yes, like, comment and vote. Let the author add the spirit of writing the story. Thank you 😄😄
