Botanical Cafe & Tongue-in-Law

Botanical Cafe & Tongue-in-Law
Checkup

The empty cup is located at the base of the coffee press machine. Seruni, the owner of the Botanical Cafe, poured the finished coffee into an empty cup. The smell of coffee filled the cafe. Seruni as a cafe owner deliberately worked on making his own coffee because he did not want to bother two employees, Dini and Lusi, who were preparing chairs for the front of the cafe. After making coffee, Seruni delivered it to customers who were already sitting waiting in the cafe. Seruni has opened a cafe for a year. The customers are quite a lot, ranging from students to office employees who are near the cafe. Not infrequently, some other office employees who are quite far from the location visit the cafe after the office disbandment. They choose to spend time until the streets of the city make more sense to be explored in the cafe owned by Seruni. There are several reasons why Seruni cafe can get quite a lot of customers. First, the location is comfortable and beautiful enough to make visitors feel at home for a long time there. Many plants are on display, not only outside the cafe but also inside. Not to mention there is a plant shop on the left side of the cafe. Not infrequently also visitors to Seruni cafe stop by the plant store after completion or vice versa. Second, in contrast to cafes in general that only provide simple food to be friends coffee, the cafe owned by Seruni also provides home cooking recipes made by Diah. The Encounter with Diah occurred decades ago at the Orphanage of Light Maria which has now switched functions to a nursing home. Diah who was fifteen years old helped care for Seruni who was left just like that in front of the door of the orphanage. So close they are that Seruni no longer cares who his parents are and considers Diah like his own brother.

Exactly at eleven o'clock, entered a customer of Seruni cafe. Seruni smiled seeing the female customer come in. Seruni turned into astonishment. He scrunched his forehead because it was unusual for the female customer to ignore Seruni. Seruni tried positively, maybe he was confused by his work in the office. Seruni got up and took out a menu book to offer to the female customer.

“Today want to mess with what, Lisa?” ask seruni while propping up the menu book. Lisa looked unenthusiastically towards Seruni. Seruni looked seriously at Lisa's countenance. Something is wrong with this customer.

“What I used to do for Rina aja, Ni” Lisa replied.

“Didn't you have lunch? Today there is wet gudeg loh,” said Seruni.

“Sweet no Ni?” ask Lisa.

“Engga. More to savory,” replied Seruni.

Lisa was silent for a moment and looked towards the wall clock at the Botani Cafe.

“Bby deh Ni,” Lisa said.

Seruni did not immediately move from Lisa's desk.

“Lis, why have you been coming here lately? Where's rina?” ask Seruni.

“I also don't know where Ni is,” Lisa replied with a sad face. Seruni scrunched her forehead, puzzled at Lisa's answer.

“Last month she said from home. The front page of his house is angus, his son is also not there. I tried it to her parents also not answered,” explained Lisa. Seruni turned her gaze down, feeling uneasy from already asking.

“Sorry yes, Lis. Hopefully there is good news,” said Seruni.

Lisa nodded slowly towards Seruni. Seruni smiled slightly.

“I am ready first yes message.”

Seruni went back to the cashier's desk and told Lisa's order to Luci and looked at her cellphone which read. Seruni immediately took HP in the cavity of the cashier table and opened the message sent by Rudi, her future husband. Rudi reported that in ten minutes he would leave the office to pick him up at the Botani Cafe.

...****...

Rudi looked at the computer screen. There are reports of harvesting various kinds of vegetables from several regions in Java. Rudi closed his eyes and rubbed his right eye. He was tired of his work. His wedding which is only a few weeks away must be interspersed with busy checking the harvest that will be provided for supermarkets in the Jakarta area. I don't know how much longer he has to focus on work until he can finally focus on his marriage later. Right now, he could only be grateful that Seruni was willing to understand his circumstances. Somehow the wedding plans later if Seruni doesn't take over much. It was also what made Rudi feel guilty to Seruni. For that, he promised to arrange all the honeymoon plans later. Whatever destination Seruni wants to visit, Rudi is ready to plan everything. At least that's what Rudi can do. Rudi turned off his work computer and then moved from an ergonomic chair that looked new. The ergonomic chair is a gift from Seruni. Seruni who used to visit the workspace Rudi was angry because the office giving chair looks uncomfortable and supports his work that must sit in front of the computer. Rudi turned off the AC in the room and left the room.

Rudi's car arrived at the hospital parking area. After parking his car in an empty place, Seruni and Rudi got off the car. Rudi approached and embraced Seruni while continuing to walk towards the hospital.

“So you've done all the work?” ask Seruni.

“There are still some who haven't. The harvest of potatoes is still lacking,” replied Rudi.

Seruni smiled slightly for Rudi. The future husband will be increasingly busy in the next few days to overcome this deficiency.

“But yes. No longer ugly all the harvest,” said Rudi.

“Bener gapapa?” ask Seruni.

“Later I will also show the harvest how to Pak Rahmat. Let the spit be done,” replied Rudi.

Seruni and Rudi entered the hospital. Not too many families of patients and other visitors were in the lobby.

“I ‘kan also want to be able to help you get ready for marriage later,” said Rudi.

Rudi embraces Seruni's waist while approaching the reception desk. Seruni was still smiling, happy to hear Rudi's reply. Seruni and Rudi arrived in front of the reception desk. They saw a woman quite young, probably just working in this place, who was glued to a computer screen with a headset attached to her ear. It's only natural they might think. Just finished the break, Saturday and not so many visitors passing by. Seruni tapped on the reception desk trying to distract the receptionist.

“Mba?” said Seruni because it did not manage to divert the attention of the receptionist.

The receptionist turned to the source of the voice then smiled awkwardly while removing the headset in her ear.

“Iya sorry Ma'am. Can anyone help?” the receptionist still smiled awkwardly.

Seruni smiled in order not to put additional pressure on this young receptionist. Unlike Seruni, Rudi smiled because he imagined if the Receptionist in his office was found out like that in front of Mr. Grace.

“We have agreed with Doctor Deni to make a pre-marital check. Can you find it?” seruni.

“Before Mom,” said Receptionist while looking back at the computer.

Before long Seruni and Rudi waited, the Receptionist turned his head towards them.

“Udah Bu, can already be found now,” said Receptionist.

“Sama-sama,” replied Receptionist.

Seruni and Rudi moved from the reception desk to the elevator.

“Bu,” said Rudi trying to mock Seruni.

Seruni glanced cynically at Rudi and then shook Rudi's head. Rudi laughed because he managed to make his future wife offended.

“Ampun Bu,” Rudi increasingly become-so.

Spry, Seruni pinched Rudi's waist. The receptionist looked at the two couples who had just come to him earlier. Envy came to him, hoping that he would also have such a partner.

Two hours passed after Seruni and Rudi made a pre-wedding check. They were waiting in the hospital canteen. After fasting for the preparation of the check, they were finally able to eat freely. Seruni looked at the little boy who was laughing because he was lifted up high by his Father.

“Sabar,” said Rudi then on Seruni.

Seruni glanced towards Rudi.

“Emang you strong lift a small child up high? Seruni asked Rudi.

“Ya fortunately office chair you have been forced to change anyway. Broken first boyokku if not replace. Thanks yes,” replied Rudi with a smile.

Seruni smiled at Rudi. Recalling his experience, he tried to sit in Rudi's old chair. The back that continues upright without a comfortable backrest makes Seruni not at home linger sitting in front of the computer. Seruni felt quite proud of his achievement. Ergonomics courses that she had once taken turned out to be useful for arguing with her future husband about the chair. Rudi looked at his watch. Looks like the results can already be taken.

“Udah?” ask Rudi.

Seruni nodded her head in response to Rudi. They immediately got up from the chair they were sitting in and walked out of the canteen.

...****...

Rudi stared blankly at the piece of paper he was holding in front of his face. Seruni was silent, looking pity at her future husband. He did not expect that the results of the pre-wedding check for Rudi would be like this. Quality****** Bad judgment. Rudi was confused, what was the cause of the results of this check. Doctor Deni was silent, trying to find the best time to explain the situation to his patients.

“My advice, try to reduce the stress level. Whether at work or in other environments,” said Doctor Deni.

Rudi and Seruni watched Doctor Deni closely.

“Many sports too, food consumption is also maintained. Avoid drinking alcohol first. Meanwhile, it was tried, later if it has been done as long as it can check again,” Doctor Deni explained to Rudi.

Rudi was still speechless, not responding to Doctor Deni's challenge. He felt he had kept his lifestyle as good as possible. The last alcohol he consumed was three months ago. It was also because there was a bachelorette party from her co-workers at the office. Cigarettes he did not smoke at all after Rudi found out the older his mother became not strong with cigarette smoke when he was in college. A sport? Yeah, Rudi's on a bike once in a while. Not routine, but always try when not busy with his work.

“Don't worry, Mas. It is common to find. It can be repaired. The important thing is that Mas Rudi wants to run my advice,”, said Doctor Deni trying to encourage his patients.

Seruni stroked Rudi's right hand which continued to tap slowly on her thigh. He tried to calm Rudi who felt unsettled at this time.

“Iya Doc, I will try,” replied Rudi.

Doctor Deni smiled slightly at his patient. Try to be positive and encouraging for them. I don't know how many times he explained this to the patients who came to visit him. Bad results like this have been met a lot, but for patients of course not. The heavy work pressure will of course make it easier for this to happen and Doctor Deni understands it correctly. In his heart, he hopes that the bad quality of***** can also be noticed by companies that diligently put excessive pressure on their employees.

This afternoon at Kafe Botani is different from usual, quiet and there are only a few visitors. They were also sitting in an outside chair. Seruni and Rudi sat quietly in the inner chair of the Botani Cafe. Seruni continued to stroke Rudi's hand, trying to strengthen Rudi. Dini deliver the order of the cafe owner and prospective husband is deft. Dini did not dare to disturb the silence inside the cafe and then hinted at Lusi who was sitting at the cashier to get out of the cafe.

“What because of my work?” said Rudi.

Seruni realized how busy Rudi was three months ago. The courtship time is reduced, Rudi did not have time to take care of their wedding later, coffee consumption increased and cycling was last month. Not to mention the story of an insufficient harvest. I don't know how much pressure Rudi is under.

“I'm afraid to tell the results to Mom, Ni.”

Seruni fell silent. He remembered Sri, his future mother-in-law, who asked not to delay having a baby. Seruni looked towards Rudi, trying to ventured to express her opinion.

“What do we say to Mom, we agreed to have a child?” ask Seruni.

Rudi looked towards Seruni with an uneasy feeling. I don't like where this conversation is going.

“Later I said that I still want to focus on the cafe if you are still afraid to tell Mom. I've never had parents so I don't know what pressure you're under to make such a request. You just focus on making a pathin advice Doctor Deni while waiting for the right time to say to Mom,” said Seruni.

Rudi silent. His shoulder seemed to be burdened by a thousand kilograms because of this problem. The solution provided by Seruni will be effective until when. I don't know when Rudi's situation will improve. Rudi was confused, he did not want to give additional responsibilities to the Serunis especially their wedding preparations must be completed immediately.

“Udah, trust me,” Seruni tried to convince Rudi.

Rudi looked down embarrassed, not daring to look at Seruni. Rudi thought about what he would be without Seruni. Seruni grasped Rudi's hand steadily and then made Rudi aware from his silence. Seruni smiled strengthening Rudi. Rudi smiled slightly welcoming Seruni.
