Beautiful In Dark

Beautiful In Dark
13. He's the real one

Shame of being honest misguided on the road

(d-bigboss)

---

Darka rode his motorcycle through the cold air of the night at high speed. His jacket fluttered in the wind. Behind the helmet covering her entire face, the twinkle on Darka's eyes had disappeared. His eyes were dark and empty.

The circular clock in her hand showed at 8pm when Darka stopped his bike. The young man looked to the left side of the road. Darka did not know why out of the many places he could go, his steps stopped at the girl's house.

The room lights are still on. He hasn't slept yet.

“Darka?”

Darka. He looked back. Lita came from the opposite direction with a plastic bag in her hand.

“Why do you malem-malem to here?” ask Lita. He approached when no answer came from Darka's mouth. That afternoon after dropping her off, Darka was still fine, but now Darka was as pale as an undead.

Darka did not know what to answer. He only tried to calm himself, but instead ended up meeting Lita.

“Gue .. don't know why.”

“Hah?” Lita blinked. “Darka kesambet what the hell?” he sighed and reached into the plastic containing two cans of drink and gave one to Darka.

“Still,” Darka gulps it down. Then they shut up while leaning on Darka's bike, waiting for anyone to start the conversation.

Yep. This was enough for Darka.

The cool night air, the quiet atmosphere, and the girl. But what if Lita knows the truth? Will Lita's attitude still be the same? Is Lita still willing to accompany him? Even if only with a can of drink without a single conversation?

Darka was afraid that all the answers were no. Suddenly, the sweet taste of the canned drink became bitter.

“Lita.” Darka broke the silence.

“Iya?”

“Gue once said that I will always be on your side, right?” darka asked with a heavy voice implied by despair.

"Yes, why?" Lita asked back with a very confused face. I don't understand the direction Darka's talking is heading tonight.

Usually, the guy always teases her, laughs and cheers.

"Will it be the same?" darka asked as she looked into Lita's eyes deeply. "Are you still going to extend a hand for me?"

Lita was only able to blink, then slowly she turned her gaze forward. He gave no answer, but that does not mean he refused Darka's question.

"Why do you have to, huh? Why do I have to be the same kind of girl as you?" darka asked with a laugh. "Eh, you don't mind if I want to get along with you?"

Lita frowned. This time just a small nod in response.

“Gue." Darka approached with a mysterious smile, he then whispered among the gusts of night wind in Lita's ear. "Gue killed people."

Lita almost choked on her own drink. He looked completely at Darka who was still staring blankly. Darka could catch Lita's shock as well as a glimmer of a look of misgivings in her eyes. The young man smiled wryly.

“Ma-means?”

“Lupain aja about this mall, Jelita Geannesa.”

The next day, Lita can only think of Darka's words. After the young man said something strange to her, Darka left just like that, taking his motorcycle away from Lita's house.

Lita let out a huff when she saw Darka, whom she had just thought was coming from the parking lot. Darka doesn't usually come in the morning, usually always late. Lita did not know why she immediately moved to hide behind one of the pillars of the corridor.

Wait, why is Lita avoiding Darka? What was the reason for his words last night?

“He doesn't look rich a killer loh, Lita.”

“UWAAH!” Lita surprised. He immediately closed his mouth while adjusting his heartbeat due to the ghost of a child who had apparently followed him since last night. “Do not ngagetin! Sshh!” he put his index finger in front of his lips, signaling not to be noisy.

Although in reality, the ordinary ghost of his voice could not be heard. Except by people like Lita.

“What did you mean?”

The ghost of the little boy looked at Darka who had already walked far away. Then I looked at Lita. “I was killed. So I know the eyes of a killer.”

Lita grimaced as well as put curiosity on the revelation of the ghost of the little boy.

“But the sister who yesterday didn't look like a killer. He's good right?” the ghost then slowly disappeared from Lita's sight only to realize that there was a stab wound on her chest.

The ghost of the little boy was right, Darka was so good to Lita. Where it might be Darka .. ah, that's it. Last night, it might have been part of Darka's joke considering that the guy was indeed that nature.

Lita never wanted to believe in a ghost, but this time, since this was Darka, Lita only hoped that the ghost was telling the truth.

He stepped straight into the class.

While on another pillar, a young man stared at Lita's departure.

Darka, who had previously heard the faint voice of Lita but never saw the girl come into hiding. Views singing. Was Lita really avoiding him?

“It's seven wonders of the world.”

“Darka possessed jin ambis anjir.”

“WEH MA BRO, YO WHAT’S UP?”

The son, whose battery had always been full charge embracing Darka who was reading a book, the young man only responded with a brief mutter. Anwar and Sandi looked at each other, asking through their own eyes, but both shrugged, not knowing what really happened to Darka.

“This is like his brain had a shorting a little yesterday because it was thrown using the eraser Bu Eko.” The son, who had just noticed Darka's change immediately let go of his embrace

“Come on, Dark to the canteen, I goosebumps you read the book.”

Darka nodded while closing his book. Anwar, Sandi, and Putra were already like triplets who lost one of their twins when they saw Darka walking ahead with a flat face. Usually the young man had already replied one by one to their backers, but today was different.

“Come on, already, Bu Eko eraser there is a waiter so it's just like Darka. Later to meet his fans also back again.” Anwar chose not to bother and followed Darka.

But Anwar's conjecture was completely wrong. Darka daydreamed as they ate in the canteen. Fans who now move back to Darka when they see an opportunity in the absence of Lita are only served with a thin smile.

“Kak Darka, which girl was yesterday?”

“That's Kak Lita-Lita that's not a hell?”

“Kak Darka fight huh? Yes, gapapa kak fight!”

“Eh the anjir even in the spirit of fighting with Lita,” chirped Putra.

“Abis if there is Kak Lita we become difficult to deketin kak Darka.”

“Gue is equally Jeli well kok.” Darka answered briefly. Makes Anwar, Sandi, and Putra more curious about what really happened.

While Lita in the middle of the siomay queue can only cover her face with a scarlet hood, trying to be invisible to anyone, including Darka. But of course he can hear everything.

“Lo why are the rich eskimos so their hoods are made? I even raved gini anjir.” Tia, who this time accompanied Lita to buy her siomay, also felt strange and protested.

“Gapa, again want aja.”

Tia glanced at Darka's gang and his fans. Come to think of it, Lita who recently joined, today even chose to eat in class after buying siomay in the canteen.

“Lo again marahan yes same Darka?”

Lita quickly shook her head. “Gue is just as good as Darka,” the same answer that Darka gave.

But after a week passed, said ‘well-well aja’ it seemed to bounce somewhere. Lita doesn't look attached to Darka. Darka was more often in the classroom than in the cafeteria. The two seemed to keep a distance from meeting in public.

Darka is not stupid, of course after he admitted ‘hal it’ the other day, the situation will change like this. It's just, he didn't really think.

“But if the cave does not tell you, he will forever think that I am a good person.” Darka covered his face with the library book.

Yes, the young man could not bear to linger in class for a week and decided to run away to the library at empty time.

“Iya, Jellies. I'm not that good a person.”

***

“Lita, please take the mother's absence huh? I think I missed it in the library.” Bu Eko asked Lita who immediately nodded.

Today is the student of Bu Eko, the killer teacher, Lita does not want to find a cause and moves quickly to the library. If you remember, Bu Eko is a teacher who once threw a blackboard eraser on Darka because it was not necessary to learn.

While going down the stairs, Lita thought about the fun times or felt saved, which if not for Darka then Lita would not feel it. Now face to face Lita never again with Darka.

How long has it been? It might have been a week, but for Lita it was a long time ago.

Lita immediately shook her head to expel Darka from her thoughts. The girl opened the door of the library and langung found the attendance sheet belonging to Bu Eko left on the turntable.

He was just about to come out after taking the attendance sheet, but his eyes caught a young man in the corner of the room with a book covering his face.

“Darka?”

Lita did not know what made her dare to walk over to be sure. He crouched down in front of the young man and ventured to get rid of the book that covered his face.

It was really Darka.

But the darka that Lita now saw was closing her eyes and crying.

His eyes swelled, his nose and lips were red, and there were still tears left. Darka's face was paler than the last Lita saw a week ago.

Yes, Darka who usually always laughs and irritates him. Darka who Lita thought had many pleasant bright sides. Lita's fingers move unknowingly to wipe away Darka's rolling tears, but Lita manages to stop him just as Darka awakens. He was shocked, just like Lita.

“Sorri.”

Darka rubbed his face roughly and immediately got up from his spot, leaving Lita still glued to a corner of the room.

Those words came back to haunt Lita.

“Iya Jelita. She's fragile. Very fragile.”

Lita seemed to have just seen a smashed mask and showed Darka's real face that the young man had never shown for real.
