If It Was Not Just a Joke

Lily had already finished her business with Zivanna when Albern also returned home. Although not saying anything, the look of Albern's face looks happy when he saw there is Lily in his house. Quickly he took a shower and changed clothes, then joined the family room as well. Lily was getting ready to go home.

"Sir Zi, thank you, yes. Because of Big Brother's help, the task becomes much easier." Lily said.

"No problem." Answer Zivanna.

"Lily's coming home?" Zaya asked when she saw Lily had brought her books with her.

"Yes, Ma. My mom and dad must have been waiting for dinner." Answer Lily.

Albern turned his head involuntarily when he heard Lily calling his Mama Mama as well.

"So Mama called your mama and told me you were going to dinner here. So you can't go home yet if you haven't had dinner with us." Said Zaya again.

"Eh?"

Lily was stunned for a while.

"Why daydream? Come on." Zaya took Lily by the hand, then took her to the dining table above which was served the Brylee family dinner menu.

Albern has been stunned since. When she heard Lily calling her Mama Mama too, somehow her chest became pounding erratically. Not to mention when her mother took Lily and led her to the dinner table attentively, suddenly Albern's brain presented a rather silly thought to a single man. She imagined that Lily and her mother were currently performing scenes of drama harmony between daughter-in-law and in-law.

Albern shook his head slowly. What the fuck is that thinking?

"Sir Al." Zivanna's voice broke Albern's daydream, until she looked surprised.

"Wouldn't you stand there until when?" Ask Zivanna again as she passes also towards the table. He looks pissed. And clearly his frustration was not with Albern, but with Lily. Mama could have been so attentive to Lily and ignored her since. He is usually the one who always gets the full attention of his mother.

"Lily, don't sit there. That's my chair, you know." Said Zivanna while pointing at the chair Lily was sitting on at the moment. The chair is right next to Zaya. After a long time of transforming into a graceful girl, due to Lily, Zivanna finally let out her spoiled true nature.

"Zi, it can't be. Sitting there is the same." Zaya doesn't seem to let Lily move.

Zivanna pouted like a little girl who lost a beloved doll, until Lily almost laughed to see it.

"Mama..." Zivanna stomped her feet a few times. Everyone knows if it's a sign Zivanna's really upset.

Lily got up from her seat.

"I'll just sit there, Ma." Lily said as she headed towards the seat that was located opposite Zaya's seat. At the same time Albern was also sitting in the chair next to him.

Lily once again gave a smile while winking her eyes at Zivanna who was now sitting next to her beloved mother. The girl returned Lily's wink by brandishing her fist.

As powerful as her energy, Lily refrained from laughing. Young Miss Brylee who is admired by many on campus, she is nothing more than a spoiled child at home, especially near her Mama.

After Aaron joined the dining table. They all started eating dinner. Everyone ate quietly and made no sound. Brylee family rules do not allow talking while eating. If there is anything to say, everything will be discussed in the family room when the meal is finished.

"Don't eat that!" Suddenly, Albern's voice sounded as Lily was about to pick up a fish-based dish.

Lily looked at Albern in surprise.

Albern put back the piece of fish that Lily was about to take, then replaced it with shrimp.

"You've choked on fish bones while eating those dishes, so just eat this." Albern.

Lily's stunned. The incident he choked on the fish bone was very long ago, precisely at the banquet when Lily was only ten years old. How could Albern still remember it?

Meanwhile, everyone at the dining table was also shocked and stared at Albern in surprise. From the time she was a child, until she was almost thirty, this was the first time Albern had noticed what other people were eating. Usually he would eat quietly without paying attention to the surroundings. He had never even been so considerate of Zivanna, his own sister.

"Ah, yes. Thank you, Al, for reminding." Lily responded. Looking at everyone's gazes that were pointing at her at the moment, Lily felt somewhat uneasy. He seemed to be the source of a commotion at the Brylee family dining table that was always quiet.

The dinner was finally over. Lily bids Aaron and Zaya to go home. He called his father to ask to be picked up. But then Zaya prevents him and tells Albern to drive Lily.

"You asked Zi to help you with your work?" Ask Albern while driving his car.

"Yes, there are some things I don't understand. Brother Zi is my senior, so know more." Answer Lily. Zivanna did go to the same school as Lily.

"I know more about business. Why didn't you ask for my help?" Ask Albern again.

Lily was somewhat stunned to hear the question. Of course Albern knows more. He was the best graduate in business from Oxford University, where Papa and his grandfather used to study. But Lily never thought that Albern would help her with her college assignments. Wasn't Albern too busy to do that?

"Of course I'm ashamed if I have to ask Kak Al for help. You know for yourself that I'm shy." Answer Lily.

Albern held back a laugh at Lily's reply. Shy of where?

"Yes, right. You're so shy." Albern muttered still with a laugh. As usual, this girl could always tickle him with just words.

Not feeling, they have reached the residence of Lily's parents. Albern's car entered the gate of the house and stopped right in his yard.

"Sister Al want to stop by first?" Lily asked as she opened her seatbelt.

"No, next time." Reply Albern.

"Well, thank you for driving me home." Lily opened the car door.

"Lilly." Suddenly Albern's voice restrains Lily.

Lily looked at the man.

"Other times if you have trouble doing your college work, you may ask for my help." Albern later said.

Lily was stunned again.

"really?" Ask me not to believe.

Albern nodded.

Lily's smile also expanded.

"Alright, later when I have another class assignment, I will ask for help from Kak Al. Beware that Al said he was busy."

Albern smiled.

"Send a message first, I'll take my time." His word.

Lily looked more surprised. Isn't Albern the laziest person to read messages?

"okay." Lily lifted her two thumbs up while smiling happily, then opened the car door.

"Thank you, Brother Al. I love you..." Lily said as she got out of Albern's car.

After closing the car door, Lily stood up while waving her hand. While Albern was still stunned after hearing Lily's last sentence earlier.

'Lily, if only what you said earlier was not just a joke...'
