A LIFETIME BEHIND THE BARS OF PRISON

A LIFETIME BEHIND THE BARS OF PRISON
episode 1

"Come in, this is your house now!"

The floor is made of plastic mats, inside there are about eight women who are the same clothes as me, prison uniforms, even though the capacity is only five people.

This is my first day in prison with a life sentence, I am a wife and mother of three beautiful daughters, many say, my children are complex angels.

I sat in this narrow prison, feeling very foreign, trying to adjust myself to my death. I'm going to spend the rest of my life here with a strong heart holding back the longing for my three daughters.

"Hey! This is my seat, there!"

A slightly fat woman approached me, in a loud voice, she told me to change seats.

I got up and moved around. While the others just looked and were silent.

My eyes are far ahead, I remember what happened, why I could go to jail.

That morning ...,

"Mother, I asked permission to go home from school to Vivi's group study, huh?"

Anisa's sweet smile was in a neat uniform, hugging me from behind who was preparing breakfast. Anisa is my youngest child who still sits in second grade Junior High.

I have three beautiful daughters, my first child named Halimah who is in college second semester, my second son named Rani third grade High School and new Anisa Sibungsu. I live happily with a faithful husband and a loving family.

It feels like my life is perfect, my daughters are diligent in worship and hijab, my husband is great at leading us, I am very proud and happy.

"Fried rice my father likes, Bun, yes" my husband sat on the table chair and ate my fried rice with a hearty meal.

"Slowly eat it, Dad," I said as I poured the glassy white water. My husband replied with a smile of warmth.

"Mother, I'm taking supplies to school, yes," my second daughter Rani said as she sat down and had breakfast too.

"Have you ready, here!" I replied while thrusting the rice that had been wrapped as usual.

"Makasi my dear Bunda, mmuuuch." Rani stood up and kissed my right cheek.

"Sir, you'll be home by yourself, yes, I have an extra lesson." Rani said to Anisa.

"I went home also directly to Vivi kak's house," answered Rani continued her breakfast.

Rani's school and Anisa's school are close together, they often go home together, my brothers live well together. I'm a lucky mother.

"Bun, add the fried rice," my husband thrust his plate at me.

"Mother's fried rice is the most delicious yes, well," Halimah responded to her father's words with a teasing smile.

I just smiled back, and my other son laughed.

Geck! Geck! Geck!

Geck! Geck! Geck!

"Who came this morning Bun?" Husband says.

"Oh well, you don't know either" I replied.

"Let me open, Bun," said Halimah and rose from her seat, stepping to open the door.

"Hey Halima! Have you no shame, snatch my son's fiancee!"

We who were having breakfast, were surprised to hear the words of Bu Lili with a loud voice scolding my son.

Me, my husband and my other two daughters immediately stood up to the front door.

Bu Lili is a neighbor of one complex alley with us, her house first entered this alley, to get to my house must pass in front of Bu Lili's house. Bu Lili also has a daughter named Monik who is the same age as Halimah.

"What is this Miss Lili? Why are you so angry with Halimah." I said with a look of anger in the eyes of Bu Lili looking at my son Halimah.

Meanwhile, Halimah just lowered her head with teary eyes.

"For your son, the monik is decided by his fiancee!"

Bu Lili pointed to Halimah with emotion.

"We'd better solve this problem inside, it's not nice to watch, Ms. Lili," my husband said calmly.

But my husband's invitation was not well received by Ms. Lili, she still angrily stood on the front porch, from her anger I could read if the Monik fiancee decided it, but why was Halima to blame?

"Halimah, explain to us what happened," my husband said as Ms. Lili had left our house.

In the living room, my husband and I were sitting next to Halimah, while Anisa and Rani had already left for school.

"I don't know Mother, father. I just don't know Monik's fiancee, where I might be the cause of their breakup."

My husband and I looked at each other, I knew my son, he never dated or was close friends with men, finished college straight home without seeing or hanging out with his friends, he said, Halimah is a submissive child and not much neko-neko. How could my son cause Bu Lili's son to break up his fiancee?

We quieted down the matter first, Halimah left for college and my husband left for work. My daily life at home opened a klontong stall in front of the house, all I do to eliminate my loneliness that is often alone at home.

"Assalamualaikum mother."

I was surprised to hear someone say hello as I tidied up my merchandise at the stall. I looked over, there was a handsome young man standing in front of the stall greeting me smiling sweetly, I saw in front of the stall, scattered a shiny black sedan car.

"Wa'alaikumsalam, who is it?" I replied in wonder.

"Include me, my name is Arya, Mother. I'm here to propose to Mother's child, Halimah."

My heart wants to be dislodged to hear the words of the young man, it turns out his name is Arya, who is he? who suddenly wanted to propose to my daughter, as far as I could tell Halimah had never dated or had a boyfriend.

"Mother ... Mother ... can I meet also Father Halimah?" He said by looking at me surprised.

"Son Arya, what's the relationship with Halimah" I'm very curious.

"We never knew each other, Mother."

I took Arya in and sat in the living room, from the story I heard, she really liked Halimah secretly, she often saw Halimah walking home from college passing in front of Monik's house while visiting Monik's house, and Arya was looking for information to the neighbors about my daughter Halimah, and now she's proposing to my daughter, Essentially, Arya, Arya decides on her fiance because she wants to propose to Halimah.

It's only fitting that Miss Lili was angry this morning.

Halimah and Monik dress very different, Monik dress fashionable and not hijab while my daughter hijab shari, just walk down the face when passing men.

"I can't decide now, I'd better get Arya home first, I'll tell Halimah and her father later."

It was only my decision for a while, I was still in shock with his arrival. Halima honestly doesn't know Monik's fiancee, pity my son who was yelled at that wasn't her fault.

At first glance I see, Arya is a manly young man and is, the way of dress and speech he said, he is a polite man.

Magrib we pray together, my husband became a priest as usual, I have not talked about the arrival of Arya last afternoon, I wait for the magrib to finish first.

After the magrib prayer, I closed the stall first just talked about it.

"Dad! Daddy's! Mother ... Dad why is this?"

"Dad!"

"Mother! come here quick."

I was shocked to hear the voices of my three daughters crying out to my husband and I, the unpleasant feeling I could read from their voices, what was wrong with my husband, by running, I entered the house.

"Dad! Why this, father .. please .. please .. please ...."

I cried seeing all the pores of my husband's body bleeding, blood covering my husband's body lying on the floor, my daughters crying holding his father.

Hearing my screams, came Ms. Arun and her husband to my house, me and my children hysterically seeing my husband's body stiff and lifeless.

I lost my husband forever.

Deeply saddened, I sat in the crowd, my tears were unceasingly coming out, I was devastated to lose my beloved husband, just this morning we had breakfast together, he said, now I see his body lifeless.

"Bu Rina, sorry, I don't mean to make the mother more sad, but .. if I notice, it looks like the mother's husband is getting sucked."

I was stunned to see Bu Arun's face whispering beside me. Diligent? Astagfirullah'alazimm ....
